Chapter 71 - Chapter 71

Chapter 71: When Tang Sect Hidden Weapons Meet High Technology

Could the system fail? Was it even possible for the system to crash?

The more Ye Feng thought about it, the more he felt something was off. How the hell could his system crash? This wasn't some basic software bug—it was supposed to be infallible.

He had only sighed in his heart, yet the system still didn't reward him this time. That left only one explanation: the conditions to trigger a reward hadn't been met.

How did he usually get the system's rewards? The answer was simple—either by completely changing the storyline or by envying something that was real and obtainable. And since the story hadn't changed much, that meant the second option had to be the reason.

Ye Feng's brows furrowed as he dug deeper into his thoughts.

"Tang San went to the blacksmith shop to forge hidden arrows, Zhuge's Divine Crossbow, and Flying Claw. Since the system didn't reward me, that must mean I already own something of equal or greater value. But what do I have?"

So far, the only hidden weapon Ye Feng had obtained was the Dragon Whisker Needle. In certain aspects, it wasn't as versatile as Zhuge's Divine Crossbow or Flying Claw. Could it be…

Suddenly, something clicked in his mind.

"Ah, shit."

Ye Feng slapped the back of his head and chuckled at himself. "I'm a damn idiot. How could I forget that?"

His sudden outburst made Ning Rongrong look at him in confusion.

"Brother, what's wrong?" she asked, a little concerned.

"Rongrong, does the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect have a blacksmith shop in Soto City?" Ye Feng asked.

"Yeah. Soto City is an important trade hub for the Barak Kingdom, so we have several businesses here. There's a pretty good blacksmith shop in the city. But why are you asking?"

"Don't ask so many questions. Just take me there."

Ning Rongrong blinked in surprise at his sudden enthusiasm but nodded and led the way. Ye Feng and Xiao Wu followed her toward the city's manufacturing district. Before they even reached the blacksmith shop, they could hear the sharp, rhythmic clanging of metal. The air smelled of burning coals and molten steel—a sign of hard work and craftsmanship.

When they entered, a blacksmith walked up to them. "What do you need?"

Ning Rongrong didn't say a word. Instead, she pulled out a token from her storage spirit guide.

The blacksmith's face stiffened for a moment before his expression turned serious. He looked Ning Rongrong up and down, then nodded respectfully. "Please, follow me."

The three of them were led into a private room. A few moments later, a middle-aged man walked in. He was a large, muscular man with hands calloused from years of labor, his body built like a fortress.

"You are...?" The man eyed Ning Rongrong with curiosity.

She responded by summoning her martial spirit—the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda.

The man's eyes widened slightly. "Two spirit rings, and so young... You must be a young lady of the sect."

Instead of answering, Ning Rongrong simply stepped aside and gestured to Ye Feng. "Senior Brother, I'll let you handle the rest."

Ye Feng smiled. "I'd like to discuss some business with you."

The blacksmith raised an eyebrow. "Tell me what you need made."

"Do you have paper and a pen?"

A worker quickly brought the requested materials. Ye Feng closed his eyes for a second, organizing his thoughts, then started drawing precise blueprints. Each part had specific measurements and intricate details.

The blacksmith studied the sketches with a frown. "What is this? Can you explain?"

"You don't need to know what it is. Just tell me if you can make it. Use only the best refined iron—or, even better, iron essence."

The blacksmith's expression darkened. "Do you even know how expensive iron essence is? And with labor costs, this won't be cheap. You should probably discuss this with your elders."

Ye Feng smirked and pulled a heavy pouch from his bracelet. He dropped it onto the table with a satisfying clink. "I know the price. Here's my deposit—100 gold spirit coins."

"Brother, this is a Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect business. You don't need to pay," Ning Rongrong protested.

"That's exactly why I should pay," Ye Feng said, ruffling her hair. "A man pays for his own creations."

The blacksmith studied him for a moment before asking, "This price isn't just for one, is it?"

"No. I need ten."

"Hmm... Since you were introduced by a sect disciple, I'll give you a 20% discount."

"Deal. Also, you'll need to sign a confidentiality agreement. No one outside this room can know about these blueprints."

"Fair enough."

With the deal secured, Ye Feng left the shop with Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu, heading back to Shrek Academy. Along the way, Ning Rongrong kept pestering him about what he was building, but he dodged her questions with a mischievous grin.

That night, unable to sleep, Ye Feng went for a walk. Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong had gone shopping in the city, so he was alone. As he reached the academy gates, he noticed a familiar figure.

Zhu Zhuqing was training with weighted gear, her breath steady despite the sweat glistening on her skin. Her tight, soaked clothes outlined her toned figure, while her feline tail twitched behind her.

Ye Feng stood still, watching her silently. "It's late. You're still training?"

"Yeah," Zhu Zhuqing replied simply, not stopping.

She had been pushing herself relentlessly ever since Ye Feng became a Spirit King. She trained even harder than before, running five kilometers with weights every night.

Ye Feng sighed. "Zhuqing, you're an agility-type spirit master. This kind of training won't improve your combat effectiveness as much as you think."

Zhu Zhuqing finally stopped and looked at him. "Then what should I do?"

"Actual combat," Ye Feng said.

"Actual combat?"

"Yeah. You need to sharpen your instincts, not just your stamina. I have an idea for a special training method. Are you interested?"

Before she could answer, a voice interrupted them.

"Young sir, perfect timing. Your order is ready."

The owner of the blacksmith shop arrived, followed by two assistants carrying large wooden boxes.

Ye Feng took one of the boxes and quickly checked the contents. Satisfied, he stored the rest in his storage spirit guide and paid the remaining 400 gold spirit coins.

Once the blacksmiths left, Ye Feng opened the box and began assembling the parts inside.

Zhu Zhuqing watched with curiosity. "Boss Ye, what are those?"

Ye Feng's lips curled into a grin as he clicked a piece into place.

"A pistol."
