Chapter 72 – Dai Mubai: Green, Green
"Pistol?"
Zhu Zhuqing's brows furrowed as she looked at Ye Feng, her curiosity only growing.
Ye Feng nodded with a smirk but didn't bother explaining. Instead, he continued assembling the pistol with practiced movements. In no time, the weapon was fully put together. He then loaded a bullet into the chamber, the crisp sound of metal clicking into place ringing in the quiet night.
Handing the pistol to Zhu Zhuqing, he said with a calm smile, "This is it."
"But… what does it do?" Zhu Zhuqing asked, still confused.
"It kills people," Ye Feng replied matter-of-factly.
Zhu Zhuqing blinked, glancing down at the weapon in her hands. "This little thing? But… it's not even sharpened."
The pistol didn't have a blade, so she couldn't see how it could kill anyone. Maybe if she swung it hard enough, she could bash someone's skull in, but otherwise, she didn't see how it was dangerous.
Ye Feng simply chuckled. Without another word, he raised his own pistol and aimed at a nearby boulder about ten meters away.
Bang!
The sudden gunshot shattered the stillness of the night. Zhu Zhuqing flinched at the unfamiliar noise, her ears ringing slightly.
"Come on, let's take a closer look." Ye Feng motioned toward the rock with a smirk.
Zhu Zhuqing hesitated for a moment before stepping forward. She crouched down and ran her fingers over the surface of the boulder. There was a small hole punched clean through the stone, the area around it still warm. Her eyes widened in shock.
Bang!
Another gunshot rang out, making her jolt. This time, she saw it clearly—the bullet had pierced the rock in an instant, leaving another deep hole.
"This thing… is that powerful?" Zhu Zhuqing whispered in disbelief. She never imagined something so small could pack such devastating force.
Ye Feng grinned. "Here. It's yours." He tossed the pistol back to her.
"You're giving it to me?" Zhu Zhuqing's eyes widened in surprise.
"You're an agility-type spirit master. You specialize in speed, assassinations, and sneak attacks. A pistol suits you perfectly," Ye Feng said casually.
"This… this is too valuable. I can't accept it." Zhu Zhuqing hesitated, trying to return the pistol.
"Keep it. Everyone's getting one," Ye Feng replied with a smirk.
Hearing that, Zhu Zhuqing finally accepted the weapon, though she still felt a little overwhelmed.
Ye Feng had envied Tang San's hidden weapons earlier in the day, but the system didn't reward him with anything. Why? Because he already had something even better—high-tech firearms that completely outclassed Tang Sect's hidden weapons. So naturally, the system didn't see a reason to compensate him.
"You ever used a gun before?" Ye Feng asked.
Zhu Zhuqing shook her head and tried to mimic how Ye Feng had held the gun earlier, but her grip was awkward. No matter what she did, it didn't feel quite right.
"I'll teach you." Ye Feng chuckled as he stepped forward.
"Your fingers shouldn't be like this. Hold it like this." He reached out, adjusting her grip. "Put your index finger here—on the trigger. Don't squeeze it yet, just rest it there lightly. The trigger is a mechanism, so as soon as you pull it, the bullet will fire. And your stance—"
Ye Feng moved behind Zhu Zhuqing, guiding her into the correct posture. His hands lingered on hers for a moment as he helped her adjust her aim. In doing so, his chest pressed against her back.
Zhu Zhuqing's clothes were still damp with sweat from her earlier training, and Ye Feng caught a faint whiff of her natural fragrance. The heat from her body, mixed with the scent of sweat, added an oddly intimate atmosphere to the moment.
"What the hell are you doing?"
A sharp, furious voice cut through the night air like a blade.
Ye Feng and Zhu Zhuqing immediately turned their heads. Standing a few meters away, Dai Mubai glared at them with an expression twisted in anger.
"…Mu Bai." Zhu Zhuqing murmured.
Dai Mubai's furious eyes locked onto Ye Feng, burning with rage. His fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
"You two are really something," Dai Mubai spat.
He took a step forward, and with each step, a spirit ring appeared beneath his feet. In the end, three spirit rings hovered around him—two yellow, one purple.
Zhu Zhuqing's expression tensed. She quickly stepped forward, trying to explain. "Mu Bai, this isn't what you think—"
"I saw it with my own damn eyes," Dai Mubai growled, cutting her off. "There's nothing left to explain."
His burning gaze shifted back to Ye Feng. "You. Fight me."
Ye Feng didn't even flinch. His face remained calm as he said flatly, "You're not my opponent."
"Bullshit! Let's go!"
Second Spirit Skill: White Tiger Fierce Light Wave!
A bright white energy ball blasted out from Dai Mubai's mouth, streaking toward Ye Feng.
Ye Feng's back trembled slightly, and in an instant, a surge of purple-gold light burst forth. As the white energy ball closed in, the purple-gold glow extended forward and intercepted the attack mid-air.
Third Spirit Skill: White Tiger Vajra Transformation!
Dai Mubai's muscles bulged, and black stripes surfaced across his skin as his strength skyrocketed. Knowing that his second spirit skill wouldn't be enough, he immediately activated his third skill to maximize his power. Then, before his first attack had even fully dissipated, he launched himself forward like an arrow, aiming a powerful punch at Ye Feng's glowing wings.
Wings?!
Dai Mubai's eyes widened in shock as he finally got a clear look at Ye Feng's transformation.
Bang!
The purple-gold wings suddenly spread open, unleashing a powerful shockwave. The sheer force sent Dai Mubai flying backward, slamming him into the ground seven meters away.
He gasped, his mind racing. "T-This… these wings…"
A sense of disbelief took over his expression. It wasn't just the overwhelming power—there was something else. The wings emitted an undeniable pressure, suppressing his spirit power.
"An… external… spirit bone…"
Those four words left his lips in shock.
External spirit bone?!
Zhu Zhuqing gasped as well. Ye Feng had actually obtained something as rare as an external spirit bone—just like Tang San.
Just then, a third voice chimed in.
"External spirit bone?!"
Ye Feng, Dai Mubai, and Zhu Zhuqing turned their heads to see Tang San standing nearby, his expression frozen in stunned disbelief. His gaze was fixed on the magnificent purple-gold wings extending from Ye Feng's back.
Ye Feng smirked. The Ancient Dragon Phoenix Wings—his external spirit bone—had made their grand debut.
