Chapter 74 - Chapter 74

Chapter 74: External Spirit Bone, Purple Cloud Wing

Ye Feng's words made perfect sense. If Xiao Wu gained the ability to fly, she'd have an instant escape route even against powerful enemies. That alone would skyrocket her chances of survival. A flying rabbit? That would be a first in history.

Xiao Wu's eyes lit up with excitement. "What should I do?"

"First, don't use your spirit power. Just touch the wings on the scroll with your hands. The residual spirit of the Purple Cloud Eagle will attack your mind. Don't panic—it's just an unconscious remnant. Don't resist. Use your mental power to shield your mind and let it attack. If you can withstand it, then you're qualified to obtain it," Ye Feng explained.

"Touch the wings?" Xiao Wu muttered to herself.

The eagle wings on the scroll were jet black, radiating a faint warmth. Purple cloud patterns swirled across them, giving off a subtle shimmer in the moonlight. Up close, the feathers had a unique metallic sheen, almost like black steel.

Following Ye Feng's instructions, Xiao Wu placed the scroll on the ground, pressed her palms onto the soft wings, took a deep breath, and closed her eyes.

One second…

Three seconds…

Ten seconds…

Thirty seconds passed.

Xiao Wu slowly opened her eyes and looked at Ye Feng with confusion.

"What's wrong?" Ye Feng asked.

"Brother… nothing happened," Xiao Wu said, blinking in disbelief. "I didn't feel any attack."

"No attack?" Ye Feng raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah." Xiao Wu nodded firmly.

"How the hell is that possible?" Ye Feng muttered under his breath. "Could it be that because the system rewarded this treasure, even the side effects disappeared?"

"Brother, what are you mumbling about?" Xiao Wu tilted her head in curiosity.

Ye Feng quickly shook his thoughts away. "Forget it. If there's no attack, then that's a good thing. Now, use your spirit power and press your hands on the Purple Cloud Wings again."

"Alright." Xiao Wu nodded.

She circulated her spirit power into her palms, and the eagle wings on the scroll instantly glowed with dazzling purple-black light. The radiance intensified until two tiny streaks of light shot into her palms like lightning.

The moment those two streaks of light entered Xiao Wu's body, they surged rapidly along her meridians. When they reached the tendons on her back, they abruptly stopped. Then, in a sudden and excruciating motion, they forcefully split open two thin pathways from within.

"Ahhh!"

Xiao Wu cried out in pain, her entire body trembling violently. Her face turned pale, and a trickle of blood seeped from her lips. The agony of having her meridians forcibly torn apart was unbearable. Darkness overtook her, and she passed out.

---

When Xiao Wu regained consciousness, she found herself resting in Ye Feng's arms.

"Brother…" she murmured, cheeks flushing.

Even though she and Ye Feng were together now—hell, she'd even given him her first kiss at the Rose Hotel—she still felt shy whenever they got too close.

"Did it work?"

The moment she recalled what had happened before she fainted, Xiao Wu's heart pounded. She quickly turned toward the scroll, only to find the eagle wing image had completely vanished.

Ye Feng took out a mirror from his bracelet and handed it to her. "Look at your back."

Xiao Wu followed his instructions and held up the mirror. With its reflection, she saw two palm-sized black eagle wing tattoos on her back.

"So… this is my external spirit bone?" Xiao Wu whispered, feeling confused. Her external spirit bone was completely different from Tang San's Eight Spider Lances.

She willed her spirit power to move along the new pathways carved into her back, channeling it into the small tattoos.

As soon as her spirit power flowed in, the dark tattoos radiated a soft purple glow. The wings expanded—starting from palm-sized, to about half a foot, and finally, magnificent black wings with intricate purple cloud patterns spread behind her.

Xiao Wu gasped in excitement. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined being able to fly like a bird.

Flapping her wings lightly, she felt a slight lift, causing her body to slowly rise off the ground.

Overwhelmed with excitement, she instinctively poured more spirit power into her wings and flapped harder.

Boom!

A sharp gust of wind roared as Xiao Wu shot upward. But—her body tilted awkwardly, and instead of soaring straight up, she veered off at an angle. She had no experience controlling flight. Before she could react, she plummeted toward the foot of the hill.

"Xiao Wu!" Ye Feng shouted.

With a light tap of his foot, the Xuanyuan Sword flew out from his bracelet. In an instant, he shot forward, catching up to Xiao Wu in mid-air. Grabbing her hand, he pulled her into his embrace, shifting his weight on the sword to cancel out the impact.

Whew…

Xiao Wu let out a long breath of relief, her heart still racing. She looked up at Ye Feng's calm face and smiled. "Brother, you saved me again."

Ye Feng gently guided the Xuanyuan Sword back to the ground. Looking at Xiao Wu in his arms, he reached out and playfully flicked her nose. "You're a rabbit, not a bird. Take your time learning to fly. It's late. Try again in the morning. Don't rush it."

"Yes, sir." Xiao Wu grinned and nodded.

"Alright, let's head back." Ye Feng smiled.

But just as he turned to leave, Xiao Wu hesitated. Then, blushing slightly, she spoke softly. "Brother… you gave me a gift, so I should show my appreciation."

"Oh?" Ye Feng raised an eyebrow, amused. "And how do you plan on doing that?"

Before he could react—

Bo!

Xiao Wu tiptoed and planted a soft kiss on his cheek before dashing away like a startled rabbit.

Ye Feng smirked and swiftly caught her wrist.

Xiao Wu's face turned bright red as she glanced back at him.

Ye Feng's eyes twinkled mischievously. "That's not fair. I gave you a gift, but you ended up taking advantage of me. That's not how it works, little rabbit. Kissing and being kissed are two very different things."

Xiao Wu's ears turned red as she stammered, "T-Then… what do you want?"

Ye Feng didn't answer. Instead, his gaze slowly moved downward from her face.

Xiao Wu panicked. She took a quick step back, her voice rising. "Hey! That's not happening! I'm still young! You humans say that doing that too early stunts a girl's development!"

Ye Feng laughed and reached out, flicking her nose again. "What the hell are you thinking? I just wanted to look at you."

Xiao Wu pouted, eyes full of doubt. "Really?"

Ye Feng nodded solemnly. "Yeah."
