"Mrs. Eileen. Can you please talk to our boss? Tell him I'm really sorry," Paige muttered to the older lady in her small office.
Mrs. Eileen, who was sitting behind the desk, didn't change her expression at all.
"You should have been more careful, Paige."
Paige felt her stomach twisting in nervousness. She leaned forward, desperation evident in her voice, "I know. I know I messed up… but I didn't mean to… please…" her voice broke as she swallowed hard, "I feel so humiliated here. Everyone is talking about it now. My friends are no longer talking to me."
Mrs. Eileen sighed and shook her head. Her face was expressionless, as if Paige was talking to someone else.
Paige's eyes seemed to burn, and she tried to rub this sensation off with her fist, "Please, Mrs. Eileen," she whispered, "I don't know what to do. Just say something."
Mrs. Eileen's lips were pressed together into a firm line, "There's nothing I can do, Paige. You did this to yourself."
