As they drove back, Abigail kept stealing glances at her sister who was unusually quiet. She wasn't telling Abi about her friends, nor she was asking for Abigail's favorite music. Instead, she was staring ahead, lost in her thoughts.
Abigail cleared her throat, "Umm. Ariel… should I bake you a cake after reaching home?" she badly wanted Ariel to not hate her.
She couldn't afford to lose her siblings' friendship.
What if Ariel was thinking that her long-lost sister was nothing but a scheming bitch.
"Hmm?" Ariel blinked as if she was deep in thinking, "Yeah. Sure. But what about Dad's lawyers who are coming today to meet you?"
"Ah… yes… after they leave then I can … after that…" she didn't have enough courage to tell her that no lawyer was visiting her.
She lied.
"Ariel. Are you mad at me?" she couldn't hide the fear in her voice but wasn't aware if Ariel felt it too.
