# Chapter 5 Problems

'The map of this mountain range that I stole before leaving was pretty detailed.'

Oak then dug through his box of shit and passed when he saw the map. We'll it wasn't so much of a map but more like a blood-stained paper that was soaked in animal blood.

'Shit, well, there should be a village near, so maybe i can take there's but. I have no grudge against them, so I will need to somehow copy it.

Mud or clay could work, but that is an awful solution. Maybe i could raid their paper stash or give that nice pink panther pelt that I obtained earlier?'

As Oaks was thinking of a solution on his bed, his emerald green eyes flashed with interesting thought.

'The paper or animal skins they use for information storing were once alive, so could I use my Gaze of Life to understand then etch the map on my Immortal root?'

With that thought in his head, he jumped out of his bed and into his box of things and quickly took out 6 pieces of paper and a bunch of mortal animal pelts.

First, he did the pelts and drew a bunch of shapes, then used his Gaze of Life on the pelt. But nothing happened, not even traces of Qi gathered around.

Thinking of something, Oak darted out of his cave. Murdered a bull, then skinned is then drew a bunch of shapes on it, but the wisps of Qi gathered but dissapted before it could get fully formed.

Oak thought for a bit, then found another animal, which was a 7 ring monkey. Their tails had 7 black rings on them.

He then restrained it and then started to carve shapes into its skin. He made sure to remove all the fur ahead of time.

The only annoying part to Oak was the fact that its screams were getting annoying, so he tore out the monkeys vocal cords. Which nearly killed it by blood loss, but he managed to get a wisp of the monkey Ki.

When he drew it to his immortal root, it was a small success. First, the map was clear on it, but the data that was extracted from the monkey, like its anatomy, DNA, and other stuff that Oak didn't understand, was messing with the shapes he drew.

'I wonder would this work?'

Oak synced with his immortal root and had a tendril of green Qi to extend from the root and wrap around the Ki clump, then squeezed it.

A crisp shattering sound echoed around his Immortal Root space like glass shattering. The Ki clump was gone seeing this he quickly got rid of that bear Ki clump he got.

He quickly came back to reality and went back to his cave.

'I really need to see what or if there is a time dilation within my Immortal root space.'

He got back home and started to experiment to see if he could create a blank Qi that could be interwoven into his immortal root or at least orbit so that he could recall the information when needed.

First, he knew that right now plants would be his only option mainly because Immortal root was a plant type. He gathered many plants on the way. He first etched shapes onto a blade of grass. This, of course, was a dead plant, then he sent wisps of Qi into the plant, bringing some vitality to it. Then, he completed a circulation in the plant himself.

He, of course, gazed at grass to store its information in his immortal root. He mearly needed one wisp to know that this is indeed the common grass of the thousand beasts mountain chain.

The only interesting thing he came across was how the plant absorbed Sun light, which was an interesting thing to see. But also the fact that it absorbs Qi and extremely small amounts of a strange orange Qi, which he guessed was a type of Sun Qi.

After the circulation, an extremely see-through wisp of Qi came out to which he absorbed, but this time it didn't get absorbed into his immortal root but orbited it just like the Ki clump.

Seeing this, he extended a line of Qi toward it and wrapped around it and felt a strange feeling. He knew he could destroy it, but he also had an urge to mark it like it was saying this was his and no one else's.

He obviously paused. This was too weird, but he didn't feel anything threatening from it. This blade of grass was something he modified, and it was something that was gotten from the middle of nowhere, so it wasn't like someone was trying something funny with him.

So, after a few minutes of thinking, he marked it. He did feel something interesting, like a connection that he could sever or strengthen whenever he felt like it and could even destory it with a thought.

So he let his immortal root space then tested it. He could still do as he pleases with the connection. Then he activated the connection, and the image of an extremely faint square appeared in his head. Then he strengthen the connection to which the perfect square he etched showed up in full detail.

Thinking something, he deactivated the connection and cut of the connection like cutting a piece of paper in half. The Qi wisp got duller and looked like it was in hibernation. He then destroyed it but didn't feel much of anything.

So he made another one and destroyed it with the connections and gained a slight headache. He had the thought of trying this out with the Ki clump of animals, but he didn't feel like anything would change but did so anyway just to make sure.

And no, he couldn't form a connection with the Ki clumps of animals. So he gathered many blades of grass to practice his etching in his spare time in case he ever needed to quickly copy something in little time.

He then looked at the blood-soaked map.
