Chapter 3 - 3

Jihoon pov:

As we walked into our class everyone turned to look at us like we were aliens, on the other hand the teacher looked at us confusion written on her face.

"These are your new students Mrs. Jeong, Jihoon and BaekHyeon." The administrator said closing the door behind him.

"Oh, twins…" she said nervously, "so which one is who?" She asked.

"I'm BaekHyeon," "And Im Jihoon." We said bluntly.

"Is this your first time in a Korean school?" She asked, we nodded in sync.

"That's fine, we'll help you guys adapt. Please go take a sit."

Jihoon and BaekHyeon exchanged quick glances before turning to scan the classroom for open seats. The other students were still staring, some with curiosity, others with thinly veiled judgment. It was clear that being the new kids—especially as twins—had already made them the center of attention, and neither of them was thrilled about it.

They walked down the aisle together, the sound of their footsteps the only noise in the room. Jihoon could feel the weight of everyone's eyes on them, and he had to resist the urge to look down at his shoes. He had always hated this part—the introductions, the staring, the whispers. He knew it was just a matter of time before the questions started.

As they approached a pair of empty desks near the middle of the room, a girl with a bright smile waved at them. "Hi! You can sit here if you want," she offered, gesturing to the seats beside her.

BaekHyeon returned her smile with one of his own, grateful for the friendly face. "Thanks," he said as they both sat down.

Once they were seated, the teacher, Mrs. Jeong, cleared her throat and resumed her lesson. "Alright, everyone, let's get back to the lesson. Jihoon and BaekHyeon, feel free to ask questions if you need help catching up."

————————

"That's all for today, use this time as break time." The teacher said closing her textbook and walking out the room.

"What the heck?" Hyeon said as we turned to look at each other confused.

"So do we just sit around here?" He asked in English, not caring I shrugged my shoulders as I pulled out my phone.

The girl infront of us turned and looked at us with a smiled, "we just use this time to study, grab snacks and do anything before our next lesson." She stated.

"What time do we get out?" Hyeon asked, "well it depends if you have Hwagon, or any programs you're in, but usually we get out of 4 or 9." She explained.

"What's Hwagon?" He asked, "private tutoring, everyone has it." She said.

"Oh." Hyeon sighed.

"Oh my name is Yuna by the way, you must be BaekHyeon." She said.

Hyeon smiled and nodded, "so you must be Jihoon."

I looked up at her not interested and got up, "yeah whatever." I pushed my chair and headed out the room.

"Nice talking to you Yüna." Hyeon said as he followed behind me.

Thrid pov:

"Where are you going?!" Hyeon asked as he catches up to Jihoon.

"Somewhere were there's no noisy people" he replied bluntly.

Hyeon looked at his brother concerned but he didn't want to push any further and just followed him quietly. As the walked the the slightly crowded hallway, suddenly someone bumped into Jihoon and spilled paint on him. BaekHyeon gasped as he looked at his brother angry face, Jihoon looked up and it was Minji "you again!" He exclaimed. "Oh my god I'm so sorry!" Minji panicked.

"What a fucking great first day of school." He said as he walked away, "I'm so sorry" Hyeon said as he quickly ran after Jihoon. As Hyeon caught up to Jihoon, he noticed the tension radiating from his brother. Jihoon was never one to express his feelings openly, but his clenched fists and rigid posture were telling enough. Hyeon tried to catch Jihoon's gaze, but his brother was too focused on getting away from the scene.

"Jihoon, wait up!" Hyeon called out, quickening his pace to match Jihoon's determined strides. "Let's get you cleaned up"

"I'm not staying here, I'm calling uncle Yun to pick me up." Hoon said, as he continued walking. "You can't do that, mom is going to be mad." Hyeon said.

"I don't care what Mom says, I'm not staying here," Jihoon snapped, his voice cold and final. He pulled out his phone, already searching for his uncle's number, his fingers trembling slightly from the mix of frustration and anger boiling inside him.

Hyeon grabbed his arm gently, trying to slow him down. "Jihoon, just wait a minute. I know today sucks, but leaving won't solve anything. It's just the first day. Things will get better, right?"

Jihoon stopped walking and looked at his brother, his eyes dark with irritation. "You don't get it, Hyeon. I didn't want to come here in the first place. Everything about this place is just wrong. I feel like I'm suffocating."

Hyeon swallowed hard, feeling the weight of Jihoon's words. He understood the frustration, the helplessness, but he also knew they had to try to make this work. "I know it's hard, Jihoon, but running away won't change anything. We have to give it a chance, for Mom and Dad's sake. And for us, too."

Jihoon stared at Hyeon for a long moment, the tension between them thick in the air. Slowly, he lowered his phone, his shoulders slumping slightly. "Fine," he muttered, his voice edged with defeat. "But if anything else goes wrong today, I'm out. I'm not sticking around to be everyone's punching bag."

Hyeon nodded, relieved that Jihoon had at least agreed to stay, even if just for now. "Let's go get you cleaned up, then. Maybe we can find a quiet spot to chill for a bit before the next class."

————————

After school as Jihoon was heading towards the car Minji walked up to him nervously, Jihoon stood there a hint of irritation on his face. "What do you want?" He asked his voice cold but frim.

"I'm really sorry about last week and today, I can pay for your cleaning or I can just wash it myself." Minji offered.

"I don't care for your sorry, just keep a distance from me. I don't know you, you don't know me so please watch were your going. And if can't see get glasses." He told him as and walked away.

Minji stood there, stunned and slightly embarrassed as he watched Jihoon walk away. He had hoped that apologizing might ease the tension between them, but Jihoon's response had been harsher than expected. Minji could feel the stares of other students lingering as they passed by, their curiosity piqued by the confrontation.

He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "I really messed that up," he muttered to himself. Despite the cold reception, Minji couldn't help but feel bad about what had happened. He had genuinely wanted to make things right, but it seemed like Jihoon wasn't interested in anything he had to say.

As Jihoon approached the car, Hyeon noticed the exchange from a distance and jogged over to catch up with him. "What was that about?" he asked, glancing back at Minji, who was still standing there awkwardly.

"Nothing," Jihoon replied curtly, pulling open the car door. "Just another reminder of why I can't stand this place."

Hyeon could tell Jihoon was still on edge from the day's events, but he didn't press further. Instead, he got into the car beside his brother, deciding to let Jihoon cool off. They both knew the adjustment to this new life wasn't going to be easy, and today had been proof of that.

—————————

At the Kim's mansion during dinner time:

"So how was the first day in a Korean school?" Their mom asked, "Shitty" Jihoon replied.

"Language Jihoon." His dad said.

Jihoon sighed as he rolled his eyes, "how was your day Hyeon?" Their mom asked.

"Same as Hoon, I don't really like being in a different environment. Everything is so different, also people stare a lot here." Hyeon stated.

"Come on, it can not be that bad. It's not like Korea or the Korean language is new to you guys, you both are from here. This is your mothers country, I know you guys will adapt really quickly." She stated.

"I'm not adapting to that school, switch me online school. I hate every single person in that school." Jihoon added.

"If you give me a good reason you both will do online school." Their dad added.

Jihoon looked up from his plate, his expression still dark with frustration. "I don't need to give a reason, Dad. I just don't want to be there. It's that simple."

His dad leaned back in his chair, eyeing Jihoon calmly. "You know that's not how this works. If you want something, you need to explain why. We're not making any decisions without understanding what's really bothering you."

Hyeon glanced at Jihoon, sensing the rising tension. "It's just… Hoon is having a hard time just give him time," he said, trying to diffuse the situation.

"I know it's not easy to go through a break up Jihoon but… sometimes we gotta learn how to let go." His dad said, "You can't be stuck on one person your whole life Hoon." He added.

Suddenly Jihoon dropped his sliver ware got up and walked out of the dining, "we agreed not to talk about this Gorge!" His mom said getting up and followed behind Jihoon.

The tension in the dining room hung thick in the air as Jihoon's mother shot a sharp glare at her husband. George sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose, realizing he'd overstepped. Hyeon sat quietly, glancing between his parents, unsure of what to say or do.

Meanwhile, Jihoon's mother found him in his room, the door slightly ajar. She paused for a moment before entering, her heart heavy with concern. Jihoon was sitting on the edge of his bed, his head bowed, hands gripping the edge of the mattress tightly. The room was dimly lit, the curtains drawn, casting shadows on the walls.

She quietly stepped inside, careful not to startle him. "Jihoon," she called softly, her voice filled with a mother's gentle concern.

He didn't look up, his gaze fixed on the floor. "I don't want to talk, Mom," he muttered, his voice strained.

"I know," she replied, sitting down beside him. She didn't try to force eye contact, instead choosing to mirror his posture, her hands folded in her lap. "I'm not here to talk if you don't want to. I just want to be here with you."

For a while, they sat in silence, the only sound in the room the faint hum of the air conditioning. Jihoon's mother waited patiently, giving him the space he needed, but also letting him know she was there.

Finally, Jihoon spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's just… so hard. Everything reminds me of him. And now being here, in a place I never wanted to be, it's like I've lost everything that mattered to me."

His mother's heart ached for him. She reached out, gently placing a hand on his back, feeling the tension in his body. "I can't imagine how much it hurts, Jihoon. And I'm sorry if we've made it harder for you by bringing you here. But I want you to know that you're not alone in this. We're all here for you, even if it doesn't feel like it right now."

Jihoon swallowed hard, his emotions threatening to overwhelm him. "It just feels like no one understands," he said, his voice cracking. "They all keep saying it'll get better, but it doesn't feel like it will. It just hurts, all the time."

His mother gently rubbed his back, offering what comfort she could. "It's okay to feel that way, Jihoon. It's okay to hurt. Healing takes time, and no one can tell you how long it will take. But I believe that one day, the pain will lessen. And until then, we'll be right here, helping you through it."
