The ruins of New Asgard stretched before him, a graveyard of shattered dreams and broken warriors. The once-mighty castle, now nothing more than crumbling stone and molten debris, bore the scars of his battle with Thor. Dead Valkyries littered the ground, their lifeless forms frozen in their final stand. Asgardians, resistance fighters, and those who had clung to hope for seventeen long years… all lay motionless.

Aidan stood in silence, his crimson eyes sweeping over the destruction.

'All of this... because of that damned Sword'

He exhaled, then turned at the faint squelching sound behind a pile of rubble. His gaze landed on a writhing mass of regenerating flesh, slowly knitting itself back together.

Daken.

Even reduced to a blob of half-reformed muscle and bone, the son of Wolverine still clung to life.

Aidan tilted his head, contemplating.

"Should I kill him?"

The thought lingered in his mind, sharp and practical. Daken had been strong, ruthless—a wildcard in this war. But… he had been fighting Thor, not him.

"No… he was against Thor. I'll spare him… for now."

With that, Aidan leaped away, vanishing into the ruins and into the waiting embrace of the darkened forest.

.....

The trees loomed around him, their towering forms standing in defiance against the devastation he left behind. The night was cold, silent, save for the distant whispers of the wind.

And then—

A weak cough.

Aidan's gaze snapped to the side. A trail of blood. A hand clawing at the dirt.

He stepped forward, and there she was.

Elsa Bloodstone.

She was barely crawling, her body battered, her once unbreakable will now fragile beneath exhaustion and pain. Her breaths were ragged, her strength failing.

Aidan landed beside her with ease, kneeling down as she weakly looked up.

Her eyes, despite the torment, held fire.

"You again…?" she rasped, managing a half-smirk.

Aidan didn't answer immediately. Instead, he reached out, pressing his palm to her forehead.

And then, just like before—

He healed her.

A deep black glow pulsed from his hand, sinking into her wounds. Flesh stitched itself together, broken bones mended, the fire inside her reigniting as the agony faded.

Elsa gasped, her strength returning, her body no longer on the brink of death.

She sat up, staring at her hands, then at him.

And that's when Aidan spoke.

"Thor is dead."

Silence.

Elsa's breath hitched. Her fingers curled into the dirt. Her body trembled—not from fear, but from something deeper.

Then—she laughed.

A broken, disbelieving laugh, the kind that came from seventeen years of war, suffering, and endless bloodshed.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

"He's dead...?" she repeated, almost as if she couldn't believe it.

Aidan gave a slow nod.

And then she broke.

Elsa clutched her face, sobbing, laughing, crying—all at once.

"Seventeen years…" she whispered. "Seventeen fucking years… I was five when he took over. I don't even remember what life was before it. All I knew was this. The fighting. The pain. The losses. We lost… so much."

She lifted her gaze, tears slipping down her cheeks.

"And now—" she choked out. "It's over."

Aidan said nothing. He just let her be.

Let her feel the weight of a war that had finally ended.

And then—Elsa lunged forward.

Her hands grasped his face, her lips crashing into his with raw, unfiltered emotion.

It was deep. Desperate. A kiss that carried everything she couldn't say in words.

Aidan didn't resist. He let her have this.

When she finally pulled away, her forehead rested against his.

"You're the best thing that ever happened to me, Aidan Blake." she murmured, her voice filled with gratitude, longing… and regret.

She smiled, bittersweet.

"If you weren't leaving…" She chuckled softly, trailing a finger down his jawline. "I would've claimed you for myself."

Aidan chuckled, shaking his head.

"You? Claiming me?" His smirk widened. "Elsa, I don't think anyone can claim me."

Elsa laughed, but her gaze softened.

Aidan knew she meant it.

And in his heart, buried beneath his hardened walls—he regretted it too.

He wasn't one to show sentiment. But for a fleeting moment—he wished things had been different.

Because soon…

He'd be leaving.

Most likely—forever.

....

Aidan and Elsa strode through the ruined forest, their footsteps silent against the ashen ground. The underground bunker was just ahead, hidden beneath layers of reinforced steel and stone—a secret stronghold that had withstood seventeen years of war.

As they reached the entrance, Aidan noticed something. The elevator lights were active.

"It's working now… must be Valeria's doing."

Elsa hummed in agreement, watching as he pressed the panel. The doors slid open, and together, they descended into the depths of what remained of humanity.

....

The elevator doors opened with a soft chime, revealing a vast chamber bathed in eerie blue light.

The portal was still shining.

Aidan's crimson eyes swept across the cavernous space. Hundreds of people filled the bunker—women, children, the elderly. The families of resistance fighters.

They looked up in alarm as Aidan and Elsa stepped forward, wary, exhausted, desperate.

And then—

A sudden blast of energy struck the top of the entrance behind them.

Aidan didn't flinch. Instead, his gaze flickered to the culprit—a boy no older than fourteen, his hands trembling as he held a stolen energy weapon.

"BACK AWAY! BACK AWAY! LEAVE OUR FAMILIES ALONE!" The kid's voice cracked, fear and defiance laced in every word.

Before Aidan could respond, a figure rushed forward.

Valeria Richards.

Her eyes widened in shock as she took in the sight before her.

"Aidan? Elsa?"

She quickly reached out, placing a gentle hand on the boy's arm, slowly lowering his weapon.

"It's okay… I think—"

Before she could finish, Aidan stepped forward. His voice cut through the silence, steady and resolute.

"Everyone... The Resistance is over."

A hush fell over the bunker.

Aidan's gaze swept over the gathered survivors, and when he spoke again, his voice carried both weight and sorrow.

"Your husbands… fathers… brothers… sisters… They have all died valiantly, fighting to free this world from Thor's tyranny."

A wave of grief rippled through the crowd. Women clutched their children tighter. Tears streamed down lined faces, the weight of his words sinking deep.

Then Aidan continued.

"They were heroes."

Heads lifted.

"Heroes whose sacrifice led to the fall of Thor and his kingdom!"

Murmurs of disbelief spread.

Aidan stepped forward, his voice rising.

"THOR IS DEAD!"

Gasps.

"MOONSTONE IS DEAD!"

Eyes widened.

"THE WITCH AMORA IS DEAD! THE ABOMINATION IS DEAD! AND DAKEN HAS SURRENDERED!"

Shock turned into something else—hope.

"THE KINGDOM OF VALHALLA IS NO MORE!"

The people stared at him, realization dawning.

"NEW ASGARD HAS FALLEN! THE RESISTANCE IS NO MORE!"

A pause.

Then Aidan smiled.

"BECAUSE THE RESISTANCE HAS WON!"

A moment of silence—

Then chaos.

Cries of joy and sorrow erupted all at once. People collapsed to their knees, mourning their loved ones. Others sobbed with relief. Some simply stood, shaking, unable to process what they had just heard.

The war was over.

Valeria ran.

Straight into Aidan's arms.

She leaped onto him, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck.

"You're alive! You're alive! You won! You won!" she cried out, her body trembling against his. She didn't let go.

Aidan let out a small chuckle, returning the embrace.

Even Elsa looked on in shock.

For the first time, she saw Valeria Richards—the genius, the cold, calculating mind of the Resistance—reduced to pure, raw emotion.

And then—

She kissed him.

It was deep, desperate, full of every emotion she had kept locked away.

When she pulled back, tears shimmered in her eyes.

"I love you, Aidan."

Her voice was barely a whisper, but the weight of those words was immeasurable.

She looked him in the eyes, her expression full of warmth.

"I love you."
