She'd done it a few times now, but getting dressed after sex with Vira always felt like putting on a costume for a play. Each piece of clothing was another layer of 'Melanie' she had to remember to wear.

Vira was still passed out on the bed, snoring softly. She'd barely lasted through round three before exhaustion claimed her, which was probably for the best.
Melisa had places to be, warnings to deliver, and possibly some terrorists to murder.
[Just another Tuesday night in Syux,] she thought, adjusting her shirt to hide the worst of the marks.
The walk down to the bar felt longer than usual. Or, maybe she just had a lot on her mind. The staircase, with its perpetually sticky handrail and questionable stains, had never seemed so endless.
