"So," she began, addressing the assembled crowd before her, "I've got good news and bad news."
Looking back at her from within the Summer household were, naturally, Isabella and Kimiko, but also Margaret, Melistair, a Hazel who looked very eepy and bored, and Raven, who came with Melisa to the house today.
"Did you find the people who tried to burn down Javir's house?" Margaret asked from her spot on the floor, where she was braiding Hazel's hair.
"Yep, that's the good news." Melisa nodded. "The bad news is they're planning to burn down this house next."
Isabella's tail went completely rigid.
"Excuse me, what!?"
"Yeah, turns out they really don't like me." Melisa shrugged. "Who knew? Anyway, yeah, they're going to be coming over here. I'm playing along with them, to find out more, but yeah, you guys should probably-"
"We can help," Melistair said immediately, standing up. "I may not be a mage, but I can still fight."
