Chapter 155 Test Run
At first, Aleshia was glad she had something she could use to sketch out Kailey's theory. But when she remembered where it had come from and how it had come to be, she felt hesitant.
As Aleshia deliberated her decision, Kailey asked, confused, "Why did you ask me if I had an implement if you already had one?" After a pause, she added, puzzled, "Wait, that looks familiar. Didn't I swallow that before? How could you have it if I swallowed it?"
Aleshia was startled by what she heard and recalled that what Kailey mentioned had happened. "You did swallow this," she said slowly. "It could be a different piece of chalk?" she suggested uncertainly.
They were uncertain about where the chalk had come from, but Kailey proposed a solution. "If it is the same chalk, shouldn't the contract still be inside?" she asked.
Aleshia snapped the chalk in half and looked inside but found it chalk all the way through. "I don't think this is the same piece of chalk," Aleshia said. She then handed the other half to Kailey, sharing her thoughts. "I guess this chalk was already in these robes," Aleshia concluded.
Aleshia began creating a magic circle. After sketching out the construction and drawing the characters of the marks onto the circle, she encountered difficulties inscribing the one near her neck. So she asked Kailey to complete the mark she couldn't see well. Once Kailey finished inscribing the mark, Aleshia examined it from above and confirmed that Kailey's theory was correct.
From Aleshia's side, she heard Kailey say, "I think we can test the circle if we flow some mana through it." Kailey then looked at Aleshia and added, "Since it is of your marks, it would be best if you infused it with your mana, Aleshia."
Aleshia searched for the foundation mark and hovered her hand over it, channeling her mana into the circle. Gradually, the mana was infused into the chalk, permeating the drawn characters. The script began to glow, signaling that the activation was successful. Aleshia stepped back, pulling Kailey with her as a precaution against the magic circle.
Aleshia and Kailey watched the process from a distance, studying how the mana flowed through the markings. They considered having to find additional scripts to adhere to the magic circle. However, during the test run, it became evident that no further markings were necessary, as the circle activated effortlessly.
