The dining room of Alex's family home was alive with laughter and warmth as Sabrina stepped into the room beside Alex.
Her stomach tightened with nerves despite the confident smile she wore when she saw that other members of the Hamilton family were present apart from his parents.
The long dining table was laden with steaming dishes, their rich aromas filling the space as Grace directed the staff to serve the food while Alex's father, Larry, leaned back in his chair, sipping wine as he chatted with his sister Helen, and her husband.
"There you are!" Grace exclaimed as she spotted Alex and Sabrina. Her face lit up with genuine excitement as she waved them over. "Come, sit next to me, Sabrina. Alex, you can find your place somewhere else."
Sabrina laughed, feeling the warmth in Grace's tone wash away her nerves.
"Really, mom? I am offended," Alex said as he pulled out a seat for Sabrina and took the seat next to her.
"Dad, meet Sabrina, my girlfriend…"
