As Lisa led Delilah inside the house, she turned to the nanny who was gently rocking her baby in her arms and humming softly as the little one drifted to sleep.
"Take her to the nursery and keep an eye on her for a while," Lisa instructed, keeping her voice low so as not to startle the baby.
The nanny nodded with a warm smile before disappearing down the hall with the baby.
Lisa then returned her attention to Delilah, who stood with her arms wrapped around herself as though she were trying to hold herself together.
Her eyes were red and swollen from crying, and her usually flawless posture was slumped with exhaustion.
"Come with me," Lisa said gently, motioning for Delilah to follow her.
Delilah followed as Lisa led her down the hallway and into a cozy visitors' room. The walls were painted in a soft pastel color, and a plush couch sat in the center of the space. Lisa gestured for Delilah to sit.
