Hunter's mind raced with thoughts of Delilah as he drove home. His exhaustion was bone-deep, but sleep was the last thing on his mind.
Every second that passed without a breakthrough in the search made him feel like he was losing her all over again.
His phone rang, and for a second, he debated ignoring it. But when he saw Fred's name flashing on the screen, he pressed the answer button and put it on speaker.
"Have you seen the news?" Fred's voice came through urgently.
Hunter frowned. "What news?" He asked impatiently, wondering why Fred was asking him that when he should be filling him on whatever he needed to know.
"It's about Ms Sterling. It's all over the internet. The orphanage and the nursing home where she volunteers spoke to the press. People are going crazy over it."
Hunter's foot instinctively pressed the brake, and he pulled over by the roadside.
