Chapter 10 - chapter 10. running

My legs shook from exhaustion, even from looking at the wall alone was making me feel even more tired, my body trembled from all that running, I felt I was running a marathon. Now my chest was burning up, aching from the burn and all the pain, I could only pump myself harder and faster, puffing out a deep breath like I was a dragon on speed, flying past a few houses along the way using every drop of energy I had.

I had to take another deep breath, getting closer to my target now, closing my bright eyes wishing the wall would grow much bigger the closer I got. Knowing it was going to use up the last of my strength. I concentrated my mind on mounting that damn thing like a horse, my eyes opening wider with determination at my last moments, looking forwards and onwards, concentrating without looking back at those tropes of men that were still on my tail.

I smirked, with one big leap of faith, I managed the jump, grasping onto the Edge of the wall, I dangled there my eyes watering from the salt that was dripping down for my effort, my body breaking into a cold sweat.

"I clung there like a monkey, my fingers twitching, they were stinging from the cold, wet gravel that clung to the bricks, scrapping into my wrinkled skin, my body plastered to the wall like glue, my fingers crumbled, loosening.

The stones broke away only for me slip back down to the ground onto my ass with a thump.

My heart was so heavy it was hammering away in my chest my hands shook with nerves. Grunting out once more the pain travelling up up to my knee, my thighs knocking together, banging them hard on the gravel, the bricks almost giving way, where my fingers once lay, I tryed not to scream out and alerting them all in the process.

My heart is heavy, now thudding against my ribs, starting to shake in panic, my eyes blurry with tears. I Managed to clamber up to my feet after some time, I puffed myself up gritted my teeth then jumped finally gripping the bricks once more, swaying in mid air as I did so.

I could have cried in relief when I finely managed to flip over the huge wall, but I knew I didn't have much time left to ponder anyway, I landed on the other side with a thud, crumbling weakly to the hard ground, I squeezed my eyes closed through the pain, I slowly got myself up painful, swaying side to side on my feet making myself feel sea-sick, my arms swinging out to the sides, so suddenly it all took me by surprise, catching nothing but thin air, landing on my butt, Only to let out a small squeal, yet again, I groaned, grunting like a pig turning, looking up and around me like an idiot trying to scramble back to my feet as quickly as possible.

Finally, I noticed a tree in my line of sight it was big and bushy, very tall it was enough to cover me, giving me time to recover within my reach, I just needed to get to it first, plus time wasn't on my side anymore, it was running out, if I sat here like a wet puppy doing nothing. Well anyone could guess the repercussions.

It would be so good if the tree could walk up to me right about now, it was a crazy thought, but guessing I wasn't really that lucky anyway.

Because the tree looked like it was staring right back at me like it was smiling. Ok, I'll run to you then shell I, I'm just too tired to even move or care anymore, I needed to hurry up, they were starting to catch me up, I could hear their pounding feet closing in on me fast.

I was starting to panic at the thought of them getting their hands on me. Slowly I moved, finely making it on my sore sweaty feet, knowing I didn't have a lot of time left on my hands, even climbing that wall had took it out on me, I used a lot of energy, that wall slowed me down a great deal, dragging myself up and over.

I didn't need any of those men catching up to me right now, so I ran the extra short distance for that tall tree. I was truly hoping their was going to be enough cover for me to hide in, I grinned, relaxing enough for my nails to cling to the bark, then looking up at the surrounding leaf's, then I hopped, pouncing on the tips of my toes, jumping high, heaving my way up slowly but surely, my arms even my legs trembled, climbing to the top, my fingers giving out on me at the last second, sliding back down the trunk, cursing myself, I couldn't help myself, I kicked the tree in anger, gripping the bark once again hurling my way up slowly, heaving my way to the top at last.

I Panicked, scrambling up quickly, hearing the start or the end of someone's conversation at the same time I hid, knowing my time was at an end now.

Satisfaction settled through my bones from not being caught yet, my tree rustling, leaf's moving with me, a branch moved on its own, making turn and look, I was really confused. Was this tree moving or was it me, more importantly I was listening to the old chaps, that was pouring nonsense from there pretty pampered mouths, I winced at there comments, but I needed to keep my wits about me, hoping I wouldn't be seen hiding in here, it wasn't in my nature to just give up like that either. I could just about make out their faces in the dark, even from higher up on my perch I was at risk, studying each and every one of them from above.

Praying my white eyes didn't shine white like that man mentioned, I was like the little birds in the night waiting for more excitement to come, fluffing out my nonexistent wings, waiting on more news.

Though it was still dark out, I could only make out their long silhouettes, letting me know they were out there, but I still couldn't see enough for what I needed to know, I was too weak right now, there was only enough light for me to see the outlines of their shadows, my eyes scanning the amount of body's in surprise, all looking for me, and those who intended on harming me.

I would have been stuck If it wasn't for my special talents, standing there like the statue of Notre dame. Guessing that this little trick comes in handy sometimes, needing to protect myself from here on out.

Keeping still was not one of my best skills to date, waiting there in the bushes for this stupid mess to calm the hell down. It was a good job I didn't need a pea-wee, "Otherwise, I was going to be a dead woman very soon. "I guess, I didn't need to flash them my ass just yet.

This was where I needed to stay put for the time being, being quiet as a mouse was laughable under the circumstances, glad I didn't squeak any words out loud, keeping my wits about me was zero to none at the moment, I just wanted to curl up and sleep.

But that wasn't the way I was trained, sitting there watching them one by one like a peeping tom, all of them smiling every single one. listening to this man as they stood there before him waiting for commands, they would have captured me by now, if I hadn't reacted the way I did. Glad I trusted my instincts.

"GREAT, I think I've annoyed their leader, watching their stunning faces, cringing at the thought, whispering a spell at the last minute to help me, praying it did the job covering my bright white eyes as well, disappearing a moment later from there view.

It gave me a moment anyway to think about it all, while peaking closer at them; "Why were there so many? I pondered, wondering who the main boss was? but if I had to guess this bit of the puzzle, it was that strange man commanding before them. standing out from the rest of the crowd with all the gold and silver rings, giving it a lot of thought, I decided to wait it all out for as long as possible, my eyes scanning them all for any weaknesses, all of this stroked me as a little odd.

"Praying to the heavens for help seemed like a good idea at the moment.

"Give a girl a break man," will you, holding my hands up whispering to no one in particular. Praying wasn't such a good idea at the moment I wasn't a religious girl, I wanted to get a better view of all that testosterone instead, "I couldn't help it man!"

"The sight of it was melting my panty's," right off."

it's not everyday you get to see a group of men piling up on top of a wall looking for you, even for my eyes to feast on what was right in-front of me," softly snorting at the commotion, trying to move myself closer with a smile on my red lips.

Tucking into the larger branch of the tree, blending in with the dark trunk." The only thing I needed right about now was a pretty white bowling ball, it would have been awesome to see how many I could knock off in one go.

"Maybe I'd even get a strike."

"My thoughts were striking me as a little odd recently, but they were more or less satisfying as the corner of my mouth lifted up into another smirk.

Scoffing to myself in annoyance. "I really do need help right about now with my thoughts," I wanted to see them all, but it was too damn dark, struggling to make out their physiques, "Maybe, I could learn something new from them all,"

I could just listen in and find out what they wanted." I really needed to know why they were following me in the first place, I'll end up finding out the information sooner rather than later anyway.

Puckering my lips together in a frown, watching them all now as they did the same to me, some of them were already hunting for me and here I was stuck in a tree, resting before I started planning my escape once again. Some supernatural you are I thought as they struggled to get themselves back onto the wall, only to make me snigger, watching them slide back down again, truly I couldn't help myself now as my jaw dropped to the ground in surprise.

"What the ever-loving god I questioned myself."

I knew there was a little more to it now. Standing there like a plank in silent shock. My eyes widened in surprise, a little flabbergasted, closing my mouth because no words could explain what I was seeing right now.

"It's not possible they can't be supernaturals."

No human could jump that wall, it was totally impossible. Did I just saw wings, a lot of coloured wings?" Now, I knew I was seeing things, I rubbed my eyes, I really needed to be a careful devil here.

"Just great, grand effing-tactic. More completions for me to deal with I whispered, I suddenly paused, thinking, all this was a total shock to the system, now it was frying my brain like soup, short circuiting into cob-webs, leaving me dangling to go on another planet.

"Fickly little spiders taking off without me like that... GET back here... I said amused, Looking up to the stars for a reply. I really needed to think of a new strategy, a plan to help me out of this uncomfortable situation that I've managed to create for myself once again, perhaps I'll dig a manhole and jump into it headfirst.

That way I'll be joining the mole underground. I couldn't afford to do something drastic at this point though, I was in an impossible da-mela, cursing myself softly, stopping myself from doing something out of character, it was really stupid at this point, working my bottom lip with worry and wonder at these new clever people.

At last everybody finely stopped, reaching their destination which was on the top of the big cold wall, my breath caught in my throat at the beauty of them all, there colourful wings were out on full display for all to see, as there comander weren't far off Infront of them. He scanned them thoroughly as if he was waiting for something.

Then he started talking.
