"Hahaha!" Valper's laughter echoed through the arena as he heard Yuuto's threat.
"You want to kill me? Then try defeating Excalibur first!"
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, he tossed the glowing orb containing the crystallized holy factor towards Yuuto.
"Here. This is the last of the holy factor extracted from your—donations. It's useless to me now. You can have it."
"My research has reached the mass production stage. Once I have a suitable facility, I can create as many as I want."
"After Kokabiel and I destroy this town, we'll gather the remaining legendary Holy Swords from around the world, then mass-produce Holy Sword wielders and wage war against Michael and the Vatican. I'll show those fools who branded me a heretic what true power is."
Yuuto ignored his boasts, his gaze fixed on the orb. He picked it up, his expression a mix of sorrow, regret, and nostalgia.
"Everyone…" Tears streamed down his face as he clutched the orb, his grief and anger intertwining.
The orb began to glow faintly, the light expanding outwards until it enveloped the entire sports complex.
Small orbs of light materialized, then coalesced—taking shape, until, finally, numerous figures, radiating a soft, blue-white light, surrounded Yuuto.
They were the spirits of his deceased friends.
The powerful energies unleashed during the battle had freed them from their prison within the crystallized holy factor.
Yuuto knelt before them—his face a mask of grief.
"Everyone…I've always wondered—was it right for me to survive? Some of you had greater dreams…a stronger will to live—was it right for me to live a peaceful life while you…?"
One of the spirits smiled gently at him, his lips moving silently.
"Don't worry about us. Live—even if you're the only one left," Akeno translated, having understood the spirit's words.
Tears streamed down Yuuto's face as he heard her translation.
Then, as if on cue—the spirits began moving their lips in unison, a rhythmic pattern forming.
They were singing. And as they sang, the blue-white light intensified.
Suddenly, their voices, soft and ethereal—became audible. They were singing a hymn.
"So it has finally manifested…" Mika murmured, leaning against a tree at the edge of the sports complex, observing the scene.
He could feel it; the flow of energy within Kuoh Academy—within this world, had shifted.
"This is..." He smiled, watching the light surrounding Yuuto intensify.
"A Sacred Gear evolves based on the wielder's desires. However, there is another level. When the wielder's desires and willpower reach a certain threshold, ignoring the world's natural flow, the Sacred Gear reaches a new state—Balance Breaker."
This was the first time he had witnessed a Balance Breaker awakening in person.
Unlike Issei's transformation—which simply unleashed more of Boosted Gear's power, Yuuto's was a true Evolution, a shift in the very flow of energy surrounding him.
"One of my objectives for today has been achieved." Having observed and analyzed Yuuto's transformation, Mika nodded in satisfaction.
It had given him valuable insights into the nature of Balance Breakers, knowledge he could use to unlock his own Longinus's full potential.
After all, Radiant Spear—despite being a powerful weapon, hadn't shown any signs of achieving Balance Breaker. He needed inspiration, and witnessing another's awakening provided just that.
This was why he had deliberately avoided interfering in the battle between Rias's peerage and Valper's Exorcists.
He needed Valper to push Yuuto to his limits—triggering his Balance Breaker.
It was also an opportunity for Yuuto to confront his past.
"Now that Yuuto has achieved Balance Breaker, the battle should be nearing its end. And once Kokabiel intervenes—it's my turn." He stretched, his body buzzing with anticipation.
—
Just as Mika had predicted—Yuuto's Balance Breaker significantly enhanced his power. And Xenovia, no longer holding back, drew her Holy Sword—Durandal.
Together, Yuuto, wielding the Holy-Demonic Sword, and Xenovia, wielding Durandal, defeated the wielder of the merged Excalibur—shattering the blade.
"What?! A Holy-Demonic Sword?! Impossible! How can those two opposing elements coexist?!" Valper stared in disbelief at Yuuto's transformed weapon.
"It's over, Valper Galilei," Yuuto said, pointing his sword at him, ready to end their connection.
But Valper ignored him, lost in his thoughts.
"I understand now! Holy and Demonic—if the balance between these two forces is disrupted, it means—not only Devils, but even Gods can…"
'Thump!' Before he could finish his thought, a spear of light pierced his chest.
It was Kokabiel.
"You're quite brilliant, Valper, to have reached such a conclusion. It proves you're truly exceptional. But even without you, I can still achieve my goals," he said, his voice dripping with disdain.
"Hahaha!" He burst into laughter, descending from the sky. With his pawns eliminated, the Fallen Angel Cadre—was ready to enter the fray himself.
—
—
"What an—entertaining little sideshow," Kokabiel said with a smile as he landed before Rias and her peerage. "Now that the games are over, allow me to show you—true terror." He raised his hand, palm upwards, light particles gathering.
"But first—Red Dragon Emperor, was it? Gather your strength and transfer it to your strongest comrade. I want to—experience your power."
"What?!" Issei was stunned, then his face flushed with anger. He had been underestimated.
"He's not just underestimating you, Issei—but all of us," Rias said coldly, her pride wounded.
Neither Issei—nor she, was worthy of his attention. This insult was unforgivable!!
"President, should we follow his instructions?" Issei whispered, remembering Mika's advice to play along and make the enemy lower their guard.
But Rias shook her head.
"I understand your intentions, Issei. But it's not our turn anymore. We've played our part. It's time for us to—exit the stage," she replied, a subtle smile playing on her lips.
Issei instantly understood and fell silent.
"Oh? Not going to fight?" Kokabiel asked, a hint of suspicion in his voice. He sensed a trap but, confident in his overwhelming power, he didn't care.
These insignificant insects couldn't harm him.
Thump!
"WHAT???!" He stared in disbelief as a spear pierced his chest from behind. Confusion, anger, and fear warred within him. He couldn't comprehend it. Where had the attack come from? Why hadn't he sensed it? Who had struck him?
"They're not fighting because—I'm your opponent, Kokabiel," a voice whispered from behind him.
It was Mika.
In this world—[Heavenly Fire: Calamity Annihilation]—wasn't enough to guarantee victory.
There were Gods and Satans beings here—his Magic isn't even enough to harm them.
But Circle (Enhanced Zetsu) could!!
Within The [Circle]—even Satan-class beings couldn't detect his presence.
Combined with his Radiant Spear—he was confident no one, not even a God or a Satan, could evade his attack.
As for what happened after they were struck…
He ripped the spear from Kokabiel's chest and leaped back, avoiding the spray of blood. "I was once a warrior, but it seems my assassination skills have surpassed my combat abilities. Such is the irony of fate."
"A warrior—you say?" Kokabiel gasped, clutching his wound, his face contorted in pain. "Then let me see your strength!" He spun around, a sword of light materializing in his hand, and slashed at Mika.
Mika raised [Radiant Spear] to block the attack.
The impact created a shockwave that shattered the ground beneath them, creating a deep chasm.
The sports complex—which had survived the earlier battles relatively unscathed—was now gone, obliterated by the force of their single exchange.
"Impressive. To think you could actually block that. This is—intriguing." A look of excitement flickered in Kokabiel's eyes.
Their clash hadn't been just a test of strength but also a collision of light and darkness—and Mika had withstood his immense Power of Light.
"It seems I can enjoy myself a bit before Sirzechs arrives," he said with a grin.
"Enjoy yourself? Do you really think so?" Mika chuckled, sensing his amusement. "Perhaps you haven't noticed—but you're still bleeding."
Kokabiel—caught up in the thrill of battle, hadn't been paying attention to his wound. He had assumed it was a minor injury—easily managed. After all, he was a battle-hardened veteran; such wounds were insignificant compared to what he had endured in the past. He simply needed to stop the bleeding.
But now, he realized he couldn't.
"What's…what's happening? Am I…cursed?" He felt the curse clinging to his wound, preventing it from healing, and his face paled.
As a powerful Fallen Angel Cadre—his vitality was immense. However, a wound to his chest—left untreated, would eventually weaken him.
Mika smiled.
With [Radiant Spear] and [Circle]—nothing was beyond his reach.
He could deliver a Fatal blow at any moment. If his opponent weren't a mythological being like Kokabiel, that single strike would have been enough to end the fight, even if they were stronger than him.
Even if it hadn't been a fatal blow, the curse would have incapacitated them. That was why it was currently his most powerful attack.
It was also the reason he was confident in his ability to defeat Kokabiel—someone he couldn't afford to underestimate.
"Kokabiel," he said, his voice cold and hard, "I will kill you here."
