THREE WEEKS LATER
The song "Xanadu" from the 1980 Olivia Newton-John movie of the same name runs through my mind. That movie is about a Muse, in this case Terpsichore played by Ms. Newton-John, falling in love with a mortal. Gram made me sit through that movie when I was a kid. I liked the music but didn't appreciate the movie. Looking back, i can see another clue as flashy as the nightclub in the film.
With the song running through my mind, I have my copy of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem "Kubla Khan" in my hand when we arrive in the land of Xanadu. We reached it via--wait for it--the pool.
Krakthulhu, Mama Krak, and Waverly guided us through the pool in the Wendigo, and we held our breath and swam down to the bottom. We swam towards a glowing light, and passed through it.
