Even though Daji never shared this part of her past with me, I'm not going to make a big thing of it. I can think of a thousand reasons why she chose to keep this in the vault. Three immediately come to mind.
First, she's sensitive about her overblown reputation.
Second, she's lived thousands of years, and there's a lot I don't know about her. If I ever do become immortal, I'll never live long enough to know everything about her. But then, most average men with brains realize that they will never completely understand their wives. I don't care if you're a businessman, a billionaire, a president, or the guy that pours concrete or drives a truck. Most guys know that there are things about the women they love that will always remain a mystery. It's just how life is.
