I simply smile and place my hand on the table. "I've heard secrets that broke my heart. This won't hurt at all. Dark secrets were already under the throne, General Song Qin. It's always been," I replied. He looks at me with a serious expression in his eyes. Testing my words with his gaze.
"Your father had an affair with Shi Rong's wife after his marriage with your mother. He was trying to convince Mrs. Shi to divorce Shi Rong and be one of his Noble Consort offering a life inside the palace," he declares.
My brow furrows, and laughter escapes my lips. I held back and controlled myself. "So basically, he was trying to ruin the court just to avenge what my father did to him? What a bunch of foolish men," I mumbled.
My husband coughs again. "My apologies. I don't care whatever past they have. What matters to me is to correct the things that wronged the people. My late father's business was his. My goal is to make this court as kind as possible," I utter.
