Shanguan Zu Jin's POV
As soon as we arrived in my chamber, we headed into my study. Xu Jiaxu was back. He went to the kitchen to grab something for us to eat. I take my seat.
"You may take your seat, Lord Lou," I stated. He followed my instruction and spoke right away.
"May I ask, Your Majesty? I think you're trusting the empress way too much," he remarked.
I simply smile and light the coal. I place the kettle where I'll brew tea. "I wonder if you heard the things that the empress did for the last few months. She was doing her best to change the past. I believe she can," I replied.
He looks at me intently. I know he was trying to read the sincerity of my words. "Love can be deceiving, Your Majesty. You shouldn't let your principle be clouded with your physical or pleasure desires," he commented. That made me laugh. I know what he's trying to imply to me.
