The first sign of something going wrong was when Monty broke into my cabin when I had Octavia on my lap kissing me.

" Ezekiel! We have a problem!" He shouted entering my cabin and staring at me and Octavia not knowing whether to leave or not.

"Oh, here we go." Octavia muttered with a roll of her eyes shuffling off my waist allowing me to stand and walk up to Monty.

" What's wrong?" I asked frowning.

I could guess that the battle was starting but a part of me couldn't understand that at the same time, the sun was out and night wouldn't come in 3 hours or so which was why I had even been entertaining my girlfriend in the first place.

" Two mines were set off in the reaches of East and South about 2 or 3 minutes ago." He told me breathing erratically.

" Oh fuck." Murphy muttered beside me.

I immediately sprang into action and grabbed my equipment beside me before breathing in and shouting.

" Battle stations!" I shouted at the top of my lungs garnering everyone's attention." Contact has been made, prepare for battle!"

Immediately everyone broke into action grabbing their weapons, and climbing the watchtowers while some walked into the ship bringing out crates full of ammunition and arrows strapped with with our explosive solution that Raven had managed to cook up.

We waited for a moment before another mine went off and then another.

At that point, I decided to climb a tower and looked at the direction of the explosions.

There I saw hundreds of men and women holding spears, swords and some notching arrows hiding just at the edge of our no man's land.

Opening my map function I found that they were around us, around our entire camp.

I saw that they were simply testing the waters as another explosion occurred Northside before another occurred east.

They were trying to find a weak point they could get through but were unable as every single direction to our camp was filled with mines everywhere.

Unless they sacrificed a large chunk of their army to secure a direction they wouldn't be getting any closer.

Their archers were also unable to snipe us as they were too far away, we weren't though.

Our bullets could reach that far.

Now came the choice to either retaliate or not?

Of course, the answer was obvious.

" Set the Ballistic Crossbows!" I shouted and watched as those on the ground got to work.

They brought out of the cabins ballistic crossbows, something I had cooked up just for a situation like this.

To stir up a close-range fight if the grounders thought to wait us out.

It wasn't the crossbow that was special though, it was the ammunition.

[—Item: Ballistic Arrow(Red)

[—Item: Ballistic Arrow(Blue)

Like I said, my evolved ability [Nature's Embodiment] was fucking overpowered.

These arrows unlike our mines that exploded in a blaze of pink corrosive flames, these arrows instead exploded into a thick mist that quickly spread thus affecting everyone for a good hundred or so meters in a radius.

The mines were our last line of defense before we would need to combat them on equal grounds but in no way was it all that we got.

We were improving rapidly and after this war, I will make sure to reclaim our footing on this planet.

" Notch Red!" I called out ordering those in charge of the ballista to notch the red-tipped arrows.

" All directions at ready!" To that they set each ballista pointing at all our sides.

We had four ballistas made after all and a small supply of my special arrows.

So we had to make them worthwhile.

" Fire!!!" I shouted and immediately those handling the ballistic crossbows let the red arrows fly.

We watched as the arrows left our sight and then an explosion occurred, not from the mines but from the Arrow's.

Not long we heard more explosions from our mines before it settled down, confusion and fear I reckoned.

I had made sure to make it so that the smoke released from our arrows mimicked that of the chemical toxin that came from that mountain weather.

A little bit of fear to thin out the enemy would always be appreciated after all.

The explosions occurred more and more frequently before we heard swords clashing together, I grinned and used my senses to watch as the grounders in a fearful frenzy clashed swords with each other.

Fear and panic were clear in their eyes with my toxin working overtime, the toxin would bring their worst fears into reality by merging with their senses to manipulate the reality in their mind.

So they saw everyone around them as their worst fear, so with them surrounded by enemies their only response would be to fight.

Those that were close to the no man's land chose to run and instead triggered our traps and died in a hydrazine compound explosion.

Seeing this some still threw themselves into the pink flames in bouts of madness further triggering more explosions, those that could run away from their fears chose to fight, so they slaughtered their fellow man in doing so.

The man around me stared at the chaos in a varying degree of bewilderment, shock and awe.

Murphy at this point had climbed the Watchtower I was on and he simply stared at me.

I sensed fear behind a cacophony of emotions from disbelief, reverence and more.

" What did you do?" He asked and he phrased that question in a way that everyone could hear, with everything quiet except the dying wails and fearful screams a couple of hundred meters away from us.

" I showed them why antagonizing us is a bad idea." I said letting a small crazed smile grace my face for a moment even if I knew eyes were on me." Why would I let my man fight a war when the enemy could simply kill themselves in our stead?"

With that question lingering I again looked at the four crossbow ballistas and the man handling them.

" Notch, Blue." I said intending to end this as soon as possible.

Inside I was also incredibly happy at the fact that I gained EXP from this.

Staring at those lines I hadn't seen in a while I grinned now even more intent on ending this and finally obtaining a class.

" Fire!" I shouted raising my hand as we watched as four arrows flew through the arrow before an explosion occurred and then a chemical smoke cloud enveloped the area.
