As soon as the arrows flew and exploded into the dense crowd of mad-ridden warriors the turn of battle changed.

I watched from afar as some of them seeing the rapidly growing fog of death tried escaping only to be butchered by those who were too far gone to rationalize or think.

This started another bout of explosions as they ran into the no man's land quickly blowing themselves to bits thus encircling my camp in a beautiful cascade of pink flames.

Cuddling screams could be heard throughout the forest all the while me and the 100 stood still ready for battle.

That battle never came.

[—Quest Complete– War's Unending.

—Quest Notes: Through sheer ingenuity and skill you not only managed to pit the enemy against itself but you've also eradicated almost all of them in a single hour, losing no man or woman in your retinue while doing so.

—Quest Completion Score: SSS-

—Rewards: ???, ???, ???, 5 Gacha Tokens.]

I frowned as I read through that.

I don't know whether I overestimated the grounders or I underestimated myself.

I had thought that the battle between us would have us neck on neck as they overwhelmed us while we tried to thin them out with the mines and bullets.

But then again, biological weapons were the deadliest and I'm sure they never expected me to have nor use them.

[—Do you want to claim your rewards?]

Staring at the screen I frowned, not yet.

There was still more to be done, just as the quest notes said I had eradicated most of them.

So whatever the system had in store would have to wait, this was mostly because all rewards were '???' except the Gacha Tokens.

I didn't know why but I felt a sudden premonition while staring at the screen, not of dread or anything but that 'something' would happen.

So I ignored it for now.

So staring in the distance at the cascading pink flames I grinned as I took out my Katanas.

" Prepare for battle!" I shouted as I looked back at the more than 80 teens staring at me a bit differently than usual.

Immediately I saw them line up into groups of 20 men and women making up 4 groups leaving the few 13 teens back such as Monty and Jasper on Mine Observation duty.

Taking out my walkie talkie I switched over to Monty's channel.

" Monty, switch off the mines and await further instructions." I said.

" Roger that sir." He said before the channel closed and I then switched over to the council channel.

" Bellamy, Miller and Octavia do you copy?" I said.

" Yes sir, Southside is.. clear sir." Miller said a bit shaken as he was in charge of directing the South side.

" East Side is also clear." Bellamy said quickly.

" West Side is also clear but I think I see some stragglers, injured but still alive." Octavia said and I nodded at that.

" Good, we're gonna be doing some cleanup." I said and looked at the four groups of 20 men each.

" Abandon your posts, come over to the North Gate side and let's end this." I said.

""" Roger!""" All three said before cutting off and not even a minute later they ran into the North side where I had been commanding.

" Bellamy you take a team and go East, kill anyone that is still alive." I said and immediately Bellamy chose his team with a nod.

At this point, Raven and Clarke walked up to us as they stood beside Murphy who looked at all of this in silence.

" Miller you get south, same orders." I said pointing south to the boy.

" Yes sir." He said with a nod.

" Octavia you have West." I said before I pointed at the only team left.

" You guys are with me." I told them before looking at everyone." Leave no survivors."

" Wait, Zek." Clarke muttered catching our attention.

I felt a groan almost trying to escape before I simply settled on a frown.

" Can't we just capture them?" She asked and before I could open my mouth she continued." I know we are in a war but if we spare them then we might have a chance at trading them to their people for peace."

To that I frowned, it was a good idea but I wouldn't go through all that trouble for simple grounders who just tried to kill me.

" I'll think about it." I said dismissively before making a hand gesture and the soldiers Manning the gates quickly opened.

" Let's move!" I shouted and marched my team of teen soldiers all outfitted with black leather gear out of our walls and into the carnage outside.

With my [Map] function, flora perception technique and [World Sense] perk I wouldn't be leaving a single one alive.

So with commanding authority, I led the others into where I saw a good 3 grounders still alive and kicking.

Fanning out we slowly enclosed on the three still living grounders, their faces were scorched with wounds and lines of green, poison.

The fact that they were alive and even fighting my poison said a lot about the Vitality.

Using observe I saw that yes, they did.

[—Body: 43]

[—Body: 41]

[—Body: 40]

It seems that the common factor here was that they all had a [Body] stat of above 40.

Good to know.

" Munroe, Harper." I called out to the two women who had been becoming obsessively common in my daily life.

"" Sir."" They muttered before standing forward.

" Kill them." I muttered emotionlessly.

I watched as their eyes widened for a bit, Munroe bit her lips and nodded before being followed by Harper as they held their swords.

Harper was the first to strike, piercing the neck of the grounder straight through before pulling it out.

Munroe flipped the one grounder she had close to her and took out a dagger before slicing through their neck, ending them.

Then I stared at the last grounder who at this point was spasming, paralyzed.

He was the one with the 40 in [Body], I guess his body finally gave out.

So seeing this I looked at the teens who had followed.

" Who wants to prove themselves next?" I muttered phrasing that as if it was a challenge.

This immediately worked as a girl walked out, one of the cooks I recognized.

She took out the spear she had, being better at wielding a spear I had allowed them to wield what they were confident in but made sure to tell them to always have a dagger in their persons just in case.

The girl didn't hesitate and plunged the spear straight through the back of the grounder earning a simple pained groan, the spear piercing through their armour as if it were butter.

" Good." I said nodding at the girl, getting my people acclimated to this world's violence and cruelty early on will make it so much easier after.

" Let's move on." I said and walked off directing them to other life forces I felt, the fact that at every second step, we had to step on dead bodies opened my eyes to just how many grounders I had ordered the death of.

But even still, I couldn't find it in me to be remorseful or pitiful.
