On the weekend, Sophia was busy in the kitchen while Laura was drawing random symbols on a magnetic drawing board on the living room couch.
Diana was the first to arrive, holding a small, delicately packed jar.
"Pickled chicken. The marinade recipe was one I learned from a girl from the Jiangnan region. I made it all myself. It should taste like home, but you'll have to tell me if it's flavorful enough when you try it."
Sophia carefully took the jar from her and placed it on the counter, wiping her hands on her apron. "I'm so sorry, I asked you to come over for dinner, and now I'm asking you to help out too."
