"A barrel, as you asked."
The man was middle-aged, wearing a brown colored apron and a hat. A barman at his own tavern in the city. "That'll be four coins. Gold." He says, adjusting his hat.
Nyx nods, draining out the sum of money promised for the small barrel of liquor. Well small, being half his height, but compared to Galen it was pretty small. Like a super-sized tankard in his hand.
The man nodded his thanks and stepped back inside. Right on cue, Galen comes around the corner. "UUh--I haven't had a drink in so long!" The Giant uncorks the keg and sips a small gulp, just enough not to seem overly eager to get smashed in the middle of town. And so, he gives a shrill shiver. "Wow...that's good." he presses the cork back.
Nyx just shrugs. I haven't had much alcohol in my life, so I wouldn't know. He telepathically broadcasts to Galen. Checking the money pouch, he counts there were seven coins left.
Galen raises an eyebrow. "Keep it, ya might need it. Gold is good wherever you go. There's always someone willing to trade for it." He thinks. "What about something new? Armor maybe? For you, I mean." Galen smiles.
Nyx didn't have any intention of that. I don't know, I'm tough enough as it is. Anything I might buy around here could be just useless if my skin just stops the attack.
Galen somehow nodded a little skeptically. Yeah, no need to get silk over steel. Well, not literally, but you know what I mean. He giggles. Oh dear, I haven't had a drink in years, and now I'm getting high on booze. He tries hard to stop a big laugh, presses his hands over the mouth.
Galen smashed his hand against Nyx's small head. "Do I need to remind you you got your ass kicked not long ago? And died once? And again with that vampire?" Galen frowned.
Feeling the blow in his own way, Nyx just readjusts his hair. And a thought occurs to Nyx then. I'll talk to George, he was an adventurer. Surely he has some ideas.
Making their way back to the city gate, they walked out, crossing the bridge and stopping in the road. People from nearby yards were running indoors and some children were peeking through the windows, oowing at the sight of the giant.
The silence in their link was somewhat worrying. For some time while they had been wandering the city and looking around the shops, Nyx had come up with the question.
I don't suppose you want to come with me, eh?
Galen just rubbed his beard at that. "I would think I could, god forbid something should happen to you... But I don't think it's my turf." Galen smiles broadly at him funneling through the trances and possibly making himself the biggest visible target. "But I'll be watching your ass." He says, right on cue he raises his hand parallel to the ground and one of the yellow birds settles on his finger. "I'll blow the word out in the wind for them to talk about you."
Nyx rubs the back of his head. Doesn't your telepathy have long way service? Nyx laughs mentally at Galen's way of communicating.
Galen shook his head. "No..too much distance. There are some similar spells, but I don't think you can learn in this short of a time. Ah or maybe one of the wizards can help you." But after Galen's smile just falls. "You remember our deal, right?"
Nyx nods. Safe and head down, don't tell anyone what I am, drink my blood, GET ALMIGHTY! Nyx says, flexing his arms proudly.
Galen gives half a smile. " Damn right! And if anything happens to you, blame that Dörk guy. He's pretty seasoned." With that, the giant turns back toward the road. "Ah! And see if you can get some armor off dead people! They're plenty out there and they don't need it!" He laughs out loud, before slipping through the trees.
Nyx just laughs inside. You better pay me back when I come back!
Galen just gives the middle finger "HaHa! Good luck with that." Making Nyx copy the gesture.
