"Madam, you're back." The cook took Shao Meiru's coat and purse and placed them aside.
Xia Zhiqiu had nothing to take, so she stood awkwardly to the side, looking ready to be ordered about.
"Don't be so nervous." The cook nudged her arm and chatted with her for a while; she now knew the woman was called Li Mama.
Shao Meiru walked into the house and looked around, "The cleaning is well done; hard work indeed."
She pulled out her wallet and was about to hand Xia Zhiqiu a couple of banknotes.
"Madam, didn't you say earlier that we're short of a live-in housekeeper? What do you think of her?" Li Mama moved closer and whispered, nodding towards Xia Zhiqiu, "Today when you weren't here, she was busy from the moment she came in, not resting for a minute. I saw her sweating from the effort and thought about pouring her some juice, but she wouldn't drink, saying she can't take things from this house."
