"What does Ms. Xia do for work?" Grandmother Zhou asked.
Xia Zhiqiu hurriedly smiled, "I used to work as an accountant in a state-owned company, but I'm retired now."
"Oh? You don't seem very old, probably not even fifty, right? Why did you retire so early? Is it due to health issues?"
"My health is fine, but technological advancements are moving quickly. Accounting and tax filing systems have all been automated; they're not like the old methods we used," Xia Zhiqiu explained, "Young people learn these things much more easily than we did. They're flexible thinkers, enthusiastic about their work, and in our company, employees my age were mostly sidelined with very little work to do. It seemed better to leave more opportunities to the newcomers, after all, they are the future of the company."
Grandmother Zhou nodded in understanding.
Xia Lu sipped her lemon water by the side, pondering what the two would talk about next.
