Years ago, there was a swordsman from Sanchuan who wanted to seek counsel from Yi Nanping in the Immortal's Retreat, but due to getting drunk in Jiangnan, he failed to fulfill his wish. By the time he got away, Yi Nanping had already disappeared without a trace, yet he had no regrets, saying, "If Zhu Yunmeng would play the lute for him alone, he wouldn't care if he wasted his whole life in Jiangnan."
Though she was merely a woman whose fate had led her to fall into disrepute, no one really dared to treat her as a common courtesan.
Originally of unknown name, she had written the poem "Clouds of Yun Meng rain in several places, pitiable indeed, flowing water eastward and westward," which shook Jiangnan, thus she was named Zhu Yunmeng. Both her lyrics and melodies were unmatched under the Heaven and Earth, with a tone so tender yet capable of conveying brave and tragic sentiments, earning admiration from many.
