Edward excused himself not long after we finished our plate of cake, pushing his chair back with a satisfied sigh.
"That was excellent," he said, glancing between the two of us. "But I'll leave you two to enjoy the rest of your evening."
I blinked, caught slightly off guard. I hadn't told him about the second half of the night, but the way he said it—so casual, yet almost knowing—made it seem like he had figured it out anyway.
Mark sat back in his chair, swirling the last of his drink in his glass.
"You don't have to rush off," he said, but there wasn't much protest behind it.
Edward gave a small smirk.
"I think you've had enough father-son bonding for one night." His gaze flicked to me briefly before he added, "And besides, I have a feeling Abigail still has a few tricks up her sleeve."
I kept my expression neutral, not confirming or denying, though I felt the weight of Mark's gaze shift toward me.
