At first, the night stayed light, playful.
Mark made a show of tasting every single dessert I'd brought, his smirk growing with each ridiculous comment about how he was conducting "thorough research" to determine the best one. I, of course, called him out on it.
"You do realize you don't have to try all of them at once?" I teased, watching as he popped another tiny chocolate cake into his mouth.
Mark arched a brow, chewing slowly. "That's quitter talk, Abs."
I rolled my eyes, stealing a cookie from the tray between us. "I'm starting to think you only agreed to movie night because of this dessert spread."
Mark hummed, considering. "I won't deny that it was a strong selling point." He took another bite of cake, his smirk deepening. "You're dangerously good at bribing me, Abs"
I shouldn't have liked hearing that as much as I did.
I snatched a fork from his side of the table, stabbing into his slice of chocolate cake before he could react.
