Chapter 1 - prologue

- What decides the fate of mankind in this world? Is it some invisible being or a law like the Hand of God hovering over the world? At least it is true that man has no control even over his own will.

...

- Why, why am I so useless? I'm so tired of this! How I long to become something more than just a body that can't even walk! I feel so helpless and weak. I feel like I'll never be able to change my life... I won't give up! I will fight till the end to prove that I can! That I can do more.

A quiet and tired voice sounded in the dark hospital room. It belonged to a young man of about fourteen, who had once been fencing and horse-riding, rushing on horseback, he felt alive. But one day his life changed: he was hit by a car and became an invalid, unable to walk. And he had to forget about his dreams, but not because he wanted to, but because of the circumstances.

I won't keep you waiting and I'll reveal the cards right away. This guy was a true master of his craft, he defeated all opponents without exception. He was a big fan of warrior anime and dreamed of becoming as strong and fearless as the heroes on the screen. This dream was a guiding star for him, and he believed in it with all his heart.

This guy's name is Damian. He swore to himself that he would not give up and would definitely try to get up from his wheelchair. But those are just words. His family isn't wealthy, so they can't keep him in hospital for long. And without the necessary medication, he'll die of painful shock. So he doesn't have much time left to live.

He understood perfectly well that the end was near and that this fateful hour should come very soon - literally this night. He was lying alone in the ward, with no friends or relatives around him. He had never had any friends: he had always been the black sheep. And his parents. They were already having a hard time, and they probably couldn't bear to see their son leave this world before their eyes.

They were already having a hard time... to think their son wouldn't survive them and end up so tragically... it would be too painful to see....

- Greetings, warrior! Are you ready for your new journey yet? - The doctor entered the room with a smile on his face, but it was obvious that it was insincere.

Damian understood everything and didn't answer the doctor anything. He just closed his eyes and waited.

The sterile white walls of the hospital room seemed to press against the doctor as he approached the bed. Next to Damian, a device plugged into a socket hummed quietly, its presence both ordinary and ominous. With trembling fingers, the doctor reached out and grabbed the frayed cord dangling from it.....

Then the sterile silence was broken by a sound-a scream so sharp, so primal, that it seemed to shatter the very walls of the hospital. It was a symphony of pain, a desperate plea for mercy.

The scream was suddenly cut short, replaced by a disturbing silence. The boy on the bed lay motionless, his chest no longer rising and falling with laboured breathing. The Doctor stared at him, his heart pounding against his ribs like a caged bird that yearned to be free. He felt a wave of nausea sweep over him, but it was quickly replaced by a chilling sense of detachment.

He reached out a trembling hand and gently covered Damian's face with the white sheet. The stark contrast between the pristine fabric and the lifeless form beneath it sent shivers down his spine. Then he lowered his eyes, unable to bear the sight any longer. He turned away and began to walk away. His footsteps echoed in the empty room.

As he walked away, leaving his body behind him, he knew that this night would forever be imprinted in his memory....

...

A sharp, crystalline sound broke through the idyllic calm. It wasn't a sharp ringing or screeching, but a sonorous ringing like a thousand bells sounding in unison.

- What's going on? Where, is this... heaven...?

[Berserk system activated.]

[- Memory transfer completed, Divine Power skill obtained].

[- Warning: Current state is at critical, unconsciousness is imminent].

- What the-" Damian struggled to think of what to do as his stomach tried to shake him.

Damian was struggling to think what the hell was going on here when an incredible pain pierced his stomach?

Everything went blurry...
