Charlotte remained lying on the floor, her entire body trembling as she relived the horror she had just endured.
A whirlwind of emotions consumed her, frustration overtaking every part of her being.
But once again, she found herself completely alone in that dark room, after all, no one truly cared about her.
Tears began to stream down her face again, but this time, she cried more quietly, knowing she couldn't afford to disturb her husband.
She remained painfully tense, dreading the possibility that at any moment, he could return to the room and beat her again.
On top of that, she still had no news about her son, who was in the hospital. Even though they had told her he was fine, she wouldn't be able to rest until she saw him with her own eyes.
But she knew she couldn't go outside looking like a mess. Her husband would kill her if she let anyone find out about the way he abused her.
