Fan Guyu had gotten a lot of rewards from his last mission which he had undertaken with a senior brother of with high grade Qi gathering realm cultivation. So he had in no need to go out for a mission so soon. But still Fan Guyu had accepted the mining mission which was a good mission for low grade disciples but for a mid grade disciple like him, there were other more rewarding ones.
There was a reason behind this. In his last mission, Fan Guyu had came across a treasure map. This map actually belonged to one of the mortals that he had killed. But as this map needed spiritual energy to be viewed so Fan Guyu was sure that it was something related to a cultivator.
Not only that but the paper on which this map was drawn was quite special and durable. Even after he tried to tear the paper with all his strength, he was unable to do any harm to it. That made Fan Guyu to believe that the treasure mentioned in the map was definitely something valuable and would belong to a cultivator above the Qi gathering realm.
That area was located close to this mine and the only reason why he had taken this mission was to go out of the sect to search for that teasure. But for that he first needed to sneak out of the mine which was not easy. So he needed to come up with a plan. But before thinking about a plan, Fan Guyu wanted to break through to the 5th level of the Qi gathering realm. He was very close to making a breakthrough and was confident that he would be able to do that in at most a week.
Before entering the mine, Fan Guyu had also managed to find three low grade disciples who were willing to became his follower. So if we remain close to him, we might have a chance to get our hands on that treasure."
Hearing that, the eyes of the two other disciples lit up. Ku Daoming had told them that following senior brother Fan would be beneficial but they were not sure what kind of benefit would they be able to get ? But after learning that they might find a valuable treasure, they became more enthusiastic.

But even then his soul and body would belong to Li Feng and was destined to work for him for eternity.
