Chapter 18 - Interstellar Expedition of Power

As the days ticked by, anticipation grew within the halls of the school. Rumors whispered through the crowds of students about an upcoming event- a daring expedition to another planet to battle fierce beasts that roamed its surface. These creatures were said to possess crystals that held immense power and were coveted by the military and the influential four families who controlled much of this world's technology.

Every year, teachers selected their strongest students from special classes to embark on this perilous journey with renowned instructors. The goal: retrieve these precious crystals and use them to power the school's military-grade mechs in their ongoing war against the Xelthrans.

Among the select few chosen this year were Cid, Dee, Cindy, Cayden, and Zeph- all members of the same group. Lucy, not technically a student, was also included for her valuable skills in security and technology maintenance. She often joined these missions, using her robotic snakes as advanced reconnaissance to locate potential beasts or crystal deposits. As the team prepared for their assignment, they couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves for what awaited them on this distant planet. There were three different groups going and two representatives from each of the four major families would also be present at the meeting location: a man-made city where military personnel and their families resided. Cid's group was the first to arrive after teleporting to the planet by touching each other to avoid getting separated in transit; Dee and Cid held hands while the others placed a hand on the shoulder of the person in front of them. As they emerged on the other side of the teleporter, they were amazed by what they saw.

They arrived at a breathtaking futuristic cityscape set against a dramatic sky filled with clouds. Towering skyscrapers rise majestically, some with sleek, modern designs, while others appear more organic and integrated with nature. The city is partially surrounded by a large body of water, reflecting the vibrant blue of the sky and the sunlight streaming down. In the foreground, lush green hills contrast with the urban environment, suggesting a harmonious blend of nature and technology. The clouds are fluffy and dynamic, adding depth to the scene, while the sunlight creates a warm, ethereal glow, enhancing the overall sense of wonder and possibility. This landscape evokes a vision of a utopian future where urban life coexists with the natural world.

The Teacher in charge gave the group permission to explore the main City freely but instructed them to meet up at the military base by 8pm. Cid expressed a desire to spend time with Cid, so the group split up. Lucy, who carried a large backpack on her shoulders, approached Cindy and suggested they talk privately. They went off together. Cayden asked Zeph if they wanted to search for some armor in the shops, and Zeph eagerly agreed. Meanwhile, Cid and Dee remained together, still holding hands.

As Cid and Dee walked hand in hand through the futuristic city, they marveled at the incredible sights around them. The sleek skyscrapers glimmered in the sunlight, their reflective surfaces creating a dazzling display of light and color. The air was crisp and clean, filled with the gentle hum of advanced technology and the distant sounds of nature.

Dee leaned into Cid, a content smile on her face. "This place is amazing, isn't it? I never imagined we'd get to experience something like this together."

Cid grinned, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "It's even better because I'm with you. I can't think of anyone else I'd rather explore this city with."

As they strolled along the pristine streets, they came across a beautiful park nestled between the towering buildings. Lush green grass stretched out before them, dotted with colorful flowers and towering trees that seemed to reach for the sky. In the center of the park stood a magnificent fountain, its crystal-clear water cascading down in a mesmerizing display.

Cid led Dee to a nearby bench, and they sat down together, taking in the tranquil surroundings. He turned to face her, his crimson eyes filled with warmth and affection.

"Dee, I've been wanting to tell you something for a while now," he began, his voice soft and sincere. "Ever since we met, you've been a constant source of strength and support for me. Your bravery, your kindness, and your unwavering loyalty have captured my heart in ways I never thought possible."

Dee's eyes widened, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "Cid, I... I feel the same way about you. You've shown me what it means to truly care for someone, to fight for what's right, and to never give up, no matter the odds."

Cid reached out, gently cupping Dee's face with his hand. "I love you, Dee. With all my heart and soul. And I promise to always be there for you, to protect you, and to cherish every moment we have together."

Tears of joy glistened in Dee's eyes as she leaned into his touch. "I love you too, Cid. More than words can ever express. You are my everything, and I will stand by your side, now and forever."

As their lips met in a tender, passionate kiss, the world around them seemed to fade away. In that moment, nothing else mattered but the love they shared and the unbreakable bond that had formed between them.

When they finally parted, Cid rested his forehead against Dee's, a content smile on his face. "No matter what challenges lie ahead, we'll face them together. You and me, against the world."

Dee nodded, her heart swelling with love and determination. "Together, always. With you by my Cid.

Cid had a thought and asked, "Dee, how long does your ring block the sun rays?"

"It's supposed to last for 3 hours," she replied.

Cid pondered the fact that ever since he became a Qi vampire, life energy flowed through him. This meant that the sun's rays should no longer affect him, so he decided to take off the ring. To his surprise, it didn't feel like it was burning him, and he didn't receive any system messages. He had become immune to the sun's effects.

Cid took Dee's delicate hand in his own and gently slid the gleaming ring onto her slender finger. He gazed deeply into her eyes and whispered, "Let this symbol of our love last for eternity, my darling. I vow to always cherish and adore you. This ring also last 10 hours"

Dee gasped in surprise and delight as Cid placed the ring on her finger. Happy tears glistened in her crimson eyes as she admired the beautiful symbol of their eternal love.

"Oh Cid, it's perfect," she breathed, her voice filled with emotion. "I will treasure this ring and your love always. Ten hours of protection from the sun's rays is an incredible gift. But the greatest gift of all is your heart."

She threw her arms around him, holding him close as joyful tears streamed down her cheeks. Cid embraced her tightly, his own eyes misty with the depth of his feelings for her.

"You are my world, Dee," he murmured into her hair. "I never knew it was possible to love someone this much. You've shown me what it means to truly live, not just exist."

They clung to each other, savoring the perfect moment of love and unity. The sun shone down on them, its golden rays a blessing on their union. Cid smiled, realizing he no longer had to fear the light now that Qi flowed through his being.

"It seems I've been granted freedom from the sun's burning touch," he marveled, lacing his fingers with Dee's. "Another gift from becoming a Qi vampire. Now we can walk together in the daylight, experiencing the world in a whole new way."

Dee beamed up at him, her heart full to bursting. "I can't wait to have new adventures with you, basking in the sun's warmth. You've opened up so many possibilities, Cid."

Hand in hand, they strolled through the park, the very picture of love and devotion. The trials ahead seemed less daunting with the strength of their bond. As long as they had each other, Cid and Dee knew they could overcome anything.

The sun continued to shine its approval on the young couple, a portent of bright days to come in their journey together. Destinies entwined, Cid and Dee looked to the future with hope, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

Meanwhile, Lucy and Cindy strolled through the town, admiring the various shops that caught their interest. As a Goblin who had spent most of her life in caves, attending a military school was a huge accomplishment for Cindy. And now, she was on another planet - it was beyond her wildest dreams. Lucy led them down an alley and touched her bag, causing it to glow green momentarily. Two metal snakes fell out and transformed into chairs for them to sit on. Once they were settled, Lucy pulled out an object from her shirt and pressed a button, creating a dome around them. It was similar to the one in the library that blocked out sound, but this one also made them invisible to the outside world. Concerned, Cindy looked at Lucy who spoke seriously. "I want to tell you something important. I've already decided to stand with Cid no matter what happens, but I need to know where you stand. How far are you willing to go for Cid? You've been with him longer than I have and I trust your judgement. I am naturally loyal to those who have earned my trust and I believe Cid is a good person, just like yourself. But before I share some information with you, I need to know how much you care for him and how far you're willing to go for him."

Cindy looked at Lucy, her green eyes wide with surprise at the sudden seriousness of the conversation. She took a deep breath, collecting her thoughts before responding.

"Lucy, Cid means the world to me," Cindy began, her voice filled with sincerity. "He was one of the first people to truly accept me for who I am, not just as a Goblin, but as a person. His kindness, bravery, and unwavering loyalty have inspired me in ways I never thought possible."

She clasped her hands together, her expression determined. "I would do anything for him!" Lucy smiled

"That's great! My father was involved in building this city when I was young. During that time, I left some of my snakes here to gather information and fix any technical issues that may arise. They are programmed to sense the presence of anyone from our family and send all gathered information to us. When we arrived, they immediately relayed all the information about what has happened since we left. What they shared with me was shocking; this planet has become a base for werewolves. Zeph is definitely in danger, and Cid will most likely try to help him. It seems like these werewolves have been planning to take over humanity, and thier plan is set to begin in just two days. Additionally, a vampire showed up here yesterday, asking questions about Dee and knowing that the rest of us would be coming here. This could mean trouble for Dee.

Cindy's eyes widened in shock as she processed the bombshell Lucy had just dropped. "Werewolves? Planning to take over humanity? And a vampire looking for Dee? This is... this is huge!"

She leaned forward, her voice dropping to a whisper even though they were already shielded by Lucy's dome. "We have to warn the others. Zeph and Dee could be in serious danger if we don't act fast."

Lucy nodded grimly. "I agree. But we need to be smart about this. If we reveal what we know too soon, It's clear that the settlement is in trouble; many of the residents have already been turned into werewolves and are working with the werewolf's. Today, on our mission, we need to find a way to talk privately with everyone without arousing suspicion from the teachers or other companions. My biggest snake recently captured a werewolf, and I want to bring Cid there to see if he can get any information from them. Please help me retrieve Cid and be discreet about what I just told you - we can't risk anyone overhearing our plan."

Cindy nodded solemnly, her resolve hardening. "You can count on me, Lucy. I'll find a way to get Cid alone and bring him to you without anyone noticing. We have to get to the bottom of this werewolf plot before it's too late."

She stood up, her petite frame filled with determination. "I'll use my Qi abilities to create a distraction if needed. Maybe a minor healing emergency that requires Cid's immediate attention. That should give us the cover we need to slip away undetected."

Lucy smiled, grateful for Cindy's quick thinking and unwavering support. "That's a great idea, Cindy. Your Qi abilities will definitely come in handy for creating a believable distraction. We'll need to time it just right to avoid raising any suspicions."

She reached out and squeezed Cindy's hand, a gesture of solidarity and friendship. "I'm so glad I can count on you in this. Together, we'll get to the bottom of this werewolf plot and keep our friends safe."

Cindy returned the squeeze, her green eyes shining with determination. "Always, Lucy. We're a team now, and we'll face whatever challenges come our way united."

As they exited the dome, Lucy touched her bag once more, causing the metal snakes to revert to their original form and slither back inside. The two girls made their way back to the main street, their minds racing with plans and contingencies.

"I'll keep an eye out for the perfect opportunity to stage the distraction," Cindy whispered as they walked. "As soon as I give you the signal, you grab Cid and head to where your snake is holding the werewolf captive. I'll make sure the others are none the wiser."

Lucy nodded, her expression serious. "Sounds like a plan. And Cindy... thank you. For everything. I couldn't ask for a better friend and ally in this."

Cindy grinned, her smile warm and genuine.

"Right back at you, Lucy. We'll get through this together, no matter what."

The two girls made their way back to the meeting spot, their newfound bond of trust and friendship giving them strength for the challenges ahead. They found Cayden and Zeph already there, examining some armor pieces they had purchased from the local shops.

"Hey guys, find anything good?" Cindy asked casually, masking the gravity of their recent conversation.

Cayden grinned, holding up a sleek, black chestplate. "Check this out! It's made of some kind of ultra-lightweight alloy. Should give me extra protection without slowing me down."

Zeph nodded approvingly. "Good choice. I found some bracers that should help channel my Qi more efficiently. Every little bit helps on a mission like this."

Just then, Cid and Dee arrived, hand in hand and looking happier than ever. Lucy and Cindy exchanged a knowing glance, silently agreeing to keep their newfound knowledge under wraps for now.

"Looks like everyone's here," Cid said, his voice filled with excitement. "Ready to head to the military base and see what this mission is all about?"

The others nodded, gathering their gear and falling into step as they made their way through the city streets. Lucy and Cindy kept a watchful eye out for any signs of trouble, their senses heightened by the weight of the secrets they now carried. They arrived at a meeting table and seated at the table were four a high ranked teachers from the military schools one of which included General Zephyr the Fighter Class teacher and two representatives from the Big four Families, the first was a man with a strong, intense expression. He has a distinctive hairstyle featuring short, slicked-back silver hair with a fade on the sides. His facial features are sharp and defined, showcasing a well-groomed beard and a serious demeanor.

He wears a stylish, open white shirt that contrasts with a dark, tailored blazer, adding to his sophisticated appearance. Around his neck, he sports multiple gold chains, one of which features an ornate pendant, enhancing his bold style. The Other was the same person Cid had fought in Lucy's Arena and they imediaelty recognized each other but to reamin professionalisim they decided to save their Greetings for later the group sat around the table to the briefing before that the two Reps from the Big four introduced them selves the man spoke first im a Nathaniel from the Terranox Family pleased to meet and you and the Lady im Aria from the Gravitas Family.

General Zephyr cleared his throat, commanding the attention of everyone gathered around the table. His piercing gaze swept over the group, assessing each individual before he began the briefing.

"Welcome, everyone," he said, his voice deep and authoritative. "You have been selected for this elite expedition due to your exceptional skills and abilities. The mission before you is of the utmost importance, not only for our military school but for the safety and prosperity of our entire world."

He tapped a button on the table, and a holographic display flickered to life in the center, revealing a detailed map of the planet's surface. "Our intelligence has located a high concentration of powerful beasts in the Crimson Gorge region," Zephyr explained, pointing to a deep, red-hued canyon on the map. "These creatures are known to harbour rare and valuable crystals within them that could greatly enhance our technology and give us a significant advantage in the ongoing war against the Xelthrans."

The map zoomed in on the Crimson Gorge, revealing towering cliffs and jagged rock formations that cast ominous shadows across the landscape. "The beasts you will face are no ordinary creatures," Zephyr warned, his expression grave. "They are Elite Beasts, far stronger and more cunning than anything you have encountered before. Each one possesses unique abilities and defenses that will test your skills to the limit."

Nathaniel leaned forward, his silver hair glinting under the room's lights. "My family has developed specialized tracking devices that can help locate the beasts and the crystals they guard. Each team will be equipped with one of these devices to aid in your search."Lucy slighty scoffed Since her and her father had created the device he spoke as a request from the Terranox familty but they always take credit for the work as they they designed it themsleves.

Aria nodded, her golden eyes fierce with determination. "And my family's gravity manipulation ablity can provide support in subduing the beasts once they're found. my ablity should sufficent enough to immobilize even the strongest creatures."

General Zephyr smiled, pleased with the contributions from the Big Four representatives. "Excellent. Your resources and Skills will be invaluable to the success of this mission."

He turned his attention back to the group, his gaze lingering on Cid for a moment. "You will be divided into three teams, each led by one of our elite instructors. Your objective is to locate and defeat as many Elite Beasts as possible, securing the crystals they guard. The team that retrieves the most crystals will be handsomely rewarded."

The holographic display shifted, revealing three distinct routes through the Crimson Gorge. "Each team will take a different path to maximize our chances of success. You'll need to rely on your individual strengths and work together seamlessly to overcome the challenges ahead."

Zephyr's expression turned solemn as he added, "But be warned - the Crimson Gorge is a treacherous place, filled with hidden dangers and unpredictable threats. Stay alert.

Nathaniel couldn't help but notice Nyx sitting atop Cid's shoulders and teased him about bringing a crow into battle. He questioned what use the bird could possibly have in a fight, implying that it made Cid the weakest member of their group.

Cid smirked, unfazed by Nathaniel's taunt. He reached up and gently stroked Nyx's sleek black feathers. "Don't underestimate Nyx," he said, his voice calm but confident. "She's more than just a crow. She's a vital part of our team."

Nyx let out a soft caw, as if in agreement with Cid's words. Her intelligent eyes fixed on Nathaniel, a glint of challenge in their depths.

Nathaniel scoffed, his silver brows arching skeptically. "A bird? I fail to see how a mere crow could possibly contribute to a mission of this caliber. It seems more like a liability than an asset."

Cid's crimson eyes flashed with a hint of amusement. "Appearances can be deceiving, Nathaniel. Nyx possesses abilities that may surprise you. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss her."

General Zephyr cleared his throat, drawing the attention back to the matter at hand. "Regardless of individual opinions, every member of this expedition has been chosen for their unique skills and potential. It is not our place to judge the worth of any single contributor."

He fixed Nathaniel with a pointed look. "I trust that each of you will utilize your abilities to the fullest, working together as a cohesive unit to ensure the success of this mission. Personal biases have no place on the battlefield."

Nathaniel's jaw tightened, but he nodded curtly, acknowledging General Zephyr's reprimand. "Of course, General. My apologies for the distraction."

Aria glanced between Cid and Nathaniel, sensing the tension in the air. She made a mental note to keep an eye on their dynamic during the mission, knowing that internal conflicts could jeopardize their success.

General Zephyr nodded, satisfied with Nathaniel's response. He turned his attention back to the holographic display. "Now, let's discuss the specific roles each team member will play in this operation..."

As the briefing continued, Cid couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in Nyx. He knew that her unique abilities would prove invaluable in the challenges ahead, and he was determined to show everyone just how much of an asset she truly was.

Lucy, who had been quietly observing the exchange, leaned over to Cindy and whispered, "I have a feeling Nyx is going to surprise us all. Cid wouldn't bring her along if she couldn't hold her own."

Cindy nodded in agreement, her green eyes sparkling with curiosity. "I can't wait to see what she can do. Something tells me Nathaniel is in for a rude awakening."

The teams were divided, and each was assigned a different route through the treacherous Crimson Gorge. Cid, Dee, Cindy, Cayden were a group that were the main calvary with fighting along side the two big four Reps and Genral Zephyr himself. The group was informed that two other military groups will be arriving early tomorrow they will make up the two other groups. throughout the whole briefing Dee nuzzled against Cid resting her head against their shoulder or neck, and she even purred softly like a cat only Cid heard it due to his sharp ears. this was a common cute quirk for a female vampire when she likes someone, they her tendency to nuzzle against the person they have feelings for, much like how a cat seeks affection. When they are comfortable around them, they might lean in close, resting their head against the shoulder or neck of the person they like, purring softly like a cat.

If they are particularly fond of them, they may playfully drape themselves over their lap or arm, wrapping thier arms around them in a gentle, affectionate hug. This physical closeness could be accompanied by a shy smile and sparkling eyes, displaying their delight in their presence, making them endearing and playful at the same time. Cid let it happen since he liked Dee as well and he even lightly patted her head. Nicholas, seeing this used it as another opportunity to jab at Cid.

Nathaniel smirked, his silver eyes glinting with amusement as he observed Dee's affectionate behavior towards Cid. He couldn't resist the opportunity to needle Cid further.

"Well, well, Cid," he drawled, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "It seems you've got more than just a crow as a pet. Looks like you've tamed a little vampire kitten as well. How adorable."

Cid's eyes flashed dangerously, his grip tightening around Dee's waist protectively. "Watch your tongue, Nathaniel," he growled, his voice low and threatening. "Dee is not a pet, and I won't tolerate any disrespect towards her."

Dee lifted her head from Cid's shoulder, her crimson eyes narrowing as she fixed Nathaniel with a piercing glare. "I am no one's pet," she hissed, her fangs glinting in the light. "And you would do well to remember that, Terranox."

Nathaniel held up his hands in mock surrender, a smirk still playing on his lips. "Easy there, lovebirds. I meant no offense. Just making an observation."

General Zephyr slammed his palm on the table, the sudden noise startling everyone into silence. "Enough!" he barked, his eyes blazing with authority. "This bickering ends now. We have a mission to focus on.

Nathaniel abruptly summoned a staff made of earth into his hand and thrust it towards Cid, but no one in the room reacted. They were unconcerned about Cid's safety they knew he was not weak. Right before the staff could pierce Cid's face, he unleashed his Qi, extending it from his body to stop the spear in its tracks. His eyes locked onto Nicholas with a menacing glare as he emitted a powerful aura of bloodlust that weighed down on everyone in the room, especially Nicholas who trembled with fear as he stared into Cid's glowing purple eyes.

Nathaniel's eyes widened in shock as he felt the immense pressure of Cid's Qi bearing down on him. The earthen staff he had summoned crumbled to dust in his grip, unable to withstand the sheer force of Cid's power. Beads of sweat formed on Nathaniel's brow as he struggled to maintain his composure under the weight of Cid's bloodlust.

The room fell silent, the air thick with tension as everyone watched the display of Cid's true strength. General Zephyr's eyes narrowed, a flicker of interest sparking in their depths as he reassessed the young Qi vampire before him.

Aria's golden eyes shone with a newfound respect for Cid, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. She had known he was powerful from their virtual duel, but seeing him unleash his Qi in person was a different experience entirely.

Cid's friends - Dee, Cindy, Cayden, and Lucy - looked on with a mix of awe and pride. They had always known Cid was special, but this display of raw power only solidified their belief in him and their unwavering loyalty.

Slowly, deliberately, Cid reined in his Qi, the suffocating pressure dissipating as he regained control. His eyes faded back to their usual crimson hue, but the intensity of his gaze never wavered as he addressed Nathaniel.

"Consider this a warning, Nathaniel," Cid spoke, his voice low and controlled but laced with an undercurrent of danger. "I do not take kindly to threats against myself or those I care about. If you ever raise a hand against me or my friends again, you will face the full force of my wrath."

Nathaniel swallowed hard, his adam's apple bobbing as he struggled to find his voice. "I... I understand," he managed to choke out, his earlier bravado completely shattered in the face of Cid's overwhelming power.

General Zephyr cleared his throat, breaking the tense silence that followed. "I believe we've made our point here. Let this be a lesson to all of you - underestimating your allies or your enemies can have dire consequences. Now, let us refocus on the mission at hand."

As the briefing resumed, Cid felt Dee's hand slip into his own, her slender fingers intertwining with his in a show of support and affection. He glanced down at her, his expression softening as he met her loving gaze. In that moment, he knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, he would face them head-on with Dee and his friends by his side.

The rest of the meeting proceeded without incident, each team member absorbing the crucial details of their assigned routes and objectives. every one was now dismissed to do thier own thing was was asked to meet and the sothern gates of the Military Settlement at 11am tomorrow.

Cindy quickly pulled Cid into the alleyway, her green eyes wide with urgency. "Cid, listen carefully," she whispered, glancing around to ensure no one else was within earshot. "Lucy discovered something major about this planet. Her snakes have been gathering intel, and it turns out this place is a base for werewolves!"

Cid's crimson eyes widened in shock, his mind racing with the implications of Cindy's revelation. "Werewolves? Here? How is that possible?"

Cindy shook her head, her expression grim. "That's not all. Zeph is in danger, and the werewolves are planning to take over humanity in just two days. Many of the residents here have already been turned and are working with them."

A cold chill ran down Cid's spine as he processed the gravity of the situation. His thoughts immediately turned to his friends and their safety. "We have to warn the others," he said, his voice low and urgent. "If the werewolves are targeting Zeph, we need to protect him at all costs."

Cindy nodded, her petite frame trembling with a mix of fear and determination. "There's more. A vampire arrived yesterday, asking questions about Dee. Lucy thinks this could mean trouble for her too."

Cid's fists clenched at his sides, a fierce protectiveness surging through him at the thought of Dee being in danger.

Despite being a Qi Vampire now, Cid still had his Influence Skill at his disposal. Unlike other abilities that required blood to use, this one remained effective even without it, and its power was amplified against living beings. As long as Cid's Qi Output was stronger than his target's, the skill would always work. Currently, the werewolf in its humanoid wolf form had weaker Qi than Cid, making him an easy target for the influence.
