The script meeting lasted for seven days, and Ethan and Scarlett were entangled for seven days as well.
After finalizing the script's final version, the actors returned to their regular professional lives, while the production team went into full gear, preparing for filming.
Props, equipment, visual effects, and art design.
To achieve the best results, Ethan personally invested a great deal of effort into every aspect.
Three months later, Lucy: The Final Curtain officially began production.
"Ethan, take a photo for us,"
At the opening ceremony, Will Smith made the suggestion. Ever since Ethan won the Oscar and shifted his focus to company affairs, no one had dared to casually ask him to take a photo.
But the people of Hollywood still remembered Ethan's old nickname—
Lucky Ethan.
Hoping for another record-breaking box office success, everyone turned their attention to Ethan.
Ethan didn't refuse. He picked up the camera, set the timer, then returned to stand in the center of the group, right beside Scarlett.
"Click!"
The photo was taken, capturing everyone's smiles and expressions. With that, filming officially began.
"Scarlett, are you playing house?! Your expression just now was worse than my dog's!"
"And you, Smith! I need to see confusion, not some dumbfounded expression! What are you even acting out?"
"Lighting! Lower the left-side light! I can see the glare on the actors' faces through the monitor!"
"Props! Stop slacking! There's a cigarette box on the ground in the background—it's ruining the shot! Clean it up now!"
It was only the first scene, yet Ethan was already going full throttle. No matter who it was, as long as there was the slightest mistake, he would reprimand them and order a reshoot.
Even actors who had worked with him multiple times couldn't escape his relentless demands.
Getting scolded like a dog had become a daily occurrence.
And yet, no one complained—because they could all clearly feel that Ethan had absolute control over the entire film. Every single detail was within his grasp, and he always knew exactly what needed to be done.
Normally, directors wouldn't micromanage to this extent, but Ethan had always been an anomaly. His boundless energy and exceptional memory left most people in the dust.
Compared to other superhero films, where A-list stars often overshadowed the director, Lucy: The Final Curtain displayed a level of discipline that no other production had.
Since this film had numerous shooting locations, Ethan couldn't oversee every scene personally. The production was split into three filming units.
Paris, India, and Nairobi—these three locations, which had fewer scenes, would be handled by three assistant directors.
Ethan would personally lead the crew to Tokyo, Chongqing, and Iceland.
First Stop: Tokyo
Ethan and his team received a grand reception. Hori Takeki from HORIPRO Talent Agency personally led his artists to Tokyo's most expensive restaurant for a welcome dinner.
Thanks to Japan's unique hospitality culture, everyone was treated with utmost care.
Kyoko Fukada was naturally among them, personally attending to Ethan.
She thoughtfully served him food, poured him drinks, and even spread wasabi on his sushi for him.
Seeing the alluring "omen of great misfortune" before her, Scarlett couldn't help but compare herself. After all, their body types were quite similar.
So, she walked over, sat next to Ethan, and deliberately said, "I think I've seen this lady before."
"Miss Johansson, I used to be an artist under Ethan's company," Kyoko Fukada replied with a smile in fluent English.
"Oh, I see." Scarlett nodded. "Miss Fukada, you and Ethan seem close?"
The curve of Kyoko's lips widened. "No, I just greatly admire Ethan. To me, he is the perfect man, so I am happy to do a little more for him."
Scarlett hadn't expected Kyoko to be so bold, lowering herself so much. For a moment, she didn't know how to respond.
Fortunately, Ethan spoke up. "I heard you recently starred in a new drama and even won an award. Congratulations."
"It's all thanks to your guidance," Kyoko said. "Since you're back in Tokyo, I took a few days off. I'd love to help out and learn from you."
"No need to be so humble, you earned it," Ethan chuckled. "Just don't neglect your own work."
"Of course."
Scarlett glanced between the two of them, an amused expression on her face.
That Night
Hori Takeki, Yasushi Akimoto, and Ethan soaked in the hot springs of a Tokyo hotel.
"Akimoto, you've been riding high these past few years," Hori Takeki said, eyeing Yasushi Akimoto's plump, white body in the water with a hint of envy. "Who would've thought that a girl idol group would be such a massive success? Not only did they make it to Kōhaku Uta Gassen, but their albums are also selling like crazy."
Yasushi Akimoto wiped the steam off his glasses and said modestly, "It's all thanks to Ethan's vision. I was just lucky."
"Is that so? I doubt it's just luck. I heard you worked under Ethan for a few years. I'm jealous. If I didn't have to inherit my father's company, maybe I would've gone to America too."
Hori Takeki sighed. His agency, HORIPRO, might look successful on the surface, but in reality, he was constantly walking a tightrope, worrying about profits and company performance every day.
Unlike Yasushi Akimoto's idol business—which, though difficult at first, had limitless potential once it took off—HORIPRO was in the highly competitive acting industry. The market was already oversaturated, and every agency had to cut costs just to stay profitable.
But neither Ethan nor Yasushi Akimoto responded to his lament. Instead, they shifted the conversation to Japan's current events and interesting gossip.
Seeing that his hint had fallen on deaf ears, Hori Takeki had no choice but to follow Ethan's lead and continue chatting.
Late at Night
After the bath, Ethan finally returned to his hotel room.
Scarlett was already inside, lying on the bed in a sexy nightgown. When she saw him, she curiously asked, "Done talking with our host?"
"Yeah," Ethan said, rubbing her shoulder. "That host has been dropping hints all night. He practically stuck his face in front of me, hoping for screen time."
"Hahaha, well, he did put in a lot of effort. Of course, he wouldn't want to walk away empty-handed."
"True, so I agreed to give some of his artists a bit of screen time."
Some minor roles in the movie had already been allocated to HORIPRO's actors. Hori Takeki had gone to such lengths with this welcome dinner precisely to secure better exposure for them.
"Give and take," Scarlett said just as someone knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" she instinctively whispered.
Ethan walked to the door, glanced through the peephole, then opened it.
Through the full-length mirror, Scarlett saw Kyoko Fukada standing outside, wearing a white dress and holding a small box.
"Kyoko, what's the matter?" Ethan asked.
Kyoko smiled and said, "Ethan, you must be exhausted today. Let me help you relax."
