Kouhei walked beside Yui in silence, the soft scuff of their shoes against the pavement echoing faintly under the overcast sky. The path she led him on was unfamiliar, winding deeper into the quieter edges of the campus. He had no idea where this underclassman was taking him—but for some reason, his instincts were on edge.
He didn't know Yui was a fallen angel. If he had, perhaps he could've rationalized this strange anxiety clawing inside his chest. But with no such knowledge, he shouldn't have felt anything amiss. And yet… he did. There was something about her—this girl who had suddenly appeared in his life like a gust of wind stirring stagnant air—that made his skin crawl with uncertainty.
Maybe it was how unnatural it felt for a cute underclassman to approach him out of nowhere, asking him for something with such earnestness. Maybe it was the way her eyes watched him just a bit too closely. Whatever the reason, this situation just didn't sit right.
