Chapter 31 - Epilogue:

"So, that's the little venture you had them take?"

"Yep! It was an adventure of a lifetime! You should've been there to watch 'em go and kill demons! I watched them from afar some times, it's all one heck of a show! Bloody as heck too with all them demons!"

"You really are a strange one. If only you had chosen another path, maybe you could've been something so much more. Alas, you have chosen this current path you're on."

"Now hang on just a ding dong second! You got something against my way of life?"

"No, no. I got nothing against it, you're just a very interesting individual. Especially since you've chosen your road, and a very interesting group of friends. Most of which I have had the pleasure, or displeasure in some cases, of meeting."

"Well shoot, it's still nice to see how the banter'd go between two people who have never met before!"

"Whatever the case may be, what is your plan now that all that has gone down? You've already caused someone else to kick the bucket, despite them being there for you. As well as being the cause for someone who's already had the problem of keeping others waiting having to actually be told to take some time off. I don't know what caused him to be like that, considering his already lazy attitude, but now suddenly he was wanting to work. And yet it would not surprise me if you simply allow this kind of thing to happen on the daily."

"I didn't know that that would happen, you big dummy! I just thought that would stop those dang rapscallions from their roughhousing. If I had known what was gonna happen, I wouldn't have sent one of the dang best mercs around!"

"Ah, yes, one of those with a supposed perfect track record. How could I forget? And despite that, she's the more sane one, despite being the one taking others' lives as a living."

"Ain't no need to be smothering my name in the mud! I'm just having fun! But I still do my tasks of selling others whatever they need. Whether it be bombs, guns, knives, you name it, I got it! Probably."

"You know, maybe I'll never understand your logic in life. Or perhaps I'll figure out you had taken the corpse of the one who we do believe has died and are running experiments on him. It wouldn't be too shocking, that's for sure."

"If I could take offense, I would right there! I may enjoy the show, but I wouldn't dare take a prop from it!"

"And there's the show analogy, you've used that one many times before. Where did you hear that one from?"

"Oh, just from another good chum of mine! I bet you two would just hit it straight off the bat!"

"Given your track record, I don't think that would be the case. If anything were to be the case, it would not surprise me if you're friends with somebody who died a long, long time ago. But I'm presuming the whole necromancy idea of yours is still a work in progress?"

"That was just a proposition, my good sir! If I were to make that thing, I swear I'd have death himself knocking on my door, but I can't have that!"

"But if he did, you'd blast him into next week, I'm guessing?"

"Hahaha! You bet your butt I would!"

"And yet you aren't worried about messing with the memories of others. Say, how did you make that machine? I've always wondered about it."

"Well, I didn't make it! Someone else did, and I just happened to have the manual on how to work it! I got a copy if you want it!"

"No, there is no need for all that. I'm content with how I am right now. I already have a lot to deal with, and that's the last thing that's needed."

"If you say so! But you do know I could help with anything you got going, right? I mean, c'mon, what's the worst that can happen? Besides..."

"Besides the fact that you'd probably find a way to cause the fall of everything? I'd rather not risk something like that happening again."

"But can I ask you a tiny, infinitesimal question that I'm sure you wouldn't mind me asking?"

"Go ahead."

"What's up with this dang hypocrisy you got going on? You got rules that people can't associate with the Black Market and us down here, yet you do?"

"Why, that's simple: Most of those who you are probably thinking of go down there so they can buy things illegally, such as your own weapons and bombs. And one actually would go down there to take jobs, namely assassination work. However, I only do such a thing from a business standpoint. I see what goes on down there. The last thing this world would need is an outburst from the many wandering mercenaries, and if they decided to start a riot against the Union or something drastic like that? It would not end well for anyone. And right now, you're just the most talkative person I can actually get into contact with down there. It's the only reason I've rejected offers from many that will say they'll go to the market and kill you."

"Well I'll take that talkative one badge of honor in strides! I shall take this compliment to my grave, even if it kills me! But just let me know if you ever need anything from me! I could give you one heck of a discount for things! Almost like they'd be free!"

"There's no need for any of that. You can go ahead and continue on with whatever you're dealing with. I need to return to my work, they aren't going to finish themselves. And before you ask, I shall decline any offer for help. I'm certain that I can get it done on my own. I have this position for a reason."

"If you say so! But just know that you need to smile every so often when you're out! Even if no one can see that face of yours!"

"Yes, yes, take care. And I'll make sure those three enjoy their stay."

The sound of a device can be heard clicking, signaling that it has been turned off before silence fills the area. And then a sigh was let out after that before the sound of clicking was heard. And then the sound of ringing after that before it was answered. "Did ya forget to tell me something?"

"Tell me: What do you believe caused all of this to occur?"
