Chapter 139 - WINDOW OPPOSITE ME

He shrugged nonchalantly, his eyes glued to the road as he maneuvered the car with ease.

"Anyway," I continued, my voice lowering slightly, "if they do declare a holiday, I'll spend it reading. I'm not foolish enough to waste time when I have exams looming over me."

Roman's lips curved into a teasing smile. "What a diligent student we have here," he remarked, with eyebrows raised.

"I was always a good student," I replied with a hint of pride swelling in my chest.

He chuckled, shaking his head. "I don't think so. You've spent more time in detention than half the school."

"But those were for good reasons!" I protested, half-embarrassed yet amused.

"A good reason for getting punished?" He laughed, the sound sending delightful shivers through me, lighting up his entire face in a way that made my heart flutter. Quickly, I turned my gaze away, feeling a blush creep across my cheeks, grateful for the dim light in the car. I felt his hand gently caress mine, warm and reassuring.
