Chapter 46 - The Brownie incident part 1

The fluorescent lights of the recording studio hummed, casting a sterile glow on Suga's focused face. He meticulously tweaked the levels, chasing a perfect sound. Hours melted away as he lost himself in the music. He vaguely remembered a text from an old friend, mentioning a "surprise" baked treat. A smile played on his lips. He trusted his friend, even if their definition of "surprise" could be… unorthodox. He'd grab them later.

Meanwhile, back at the dorm, a different kind of energy was brewing. Jimin, Jungkook, and Taehyung, fresh from a vocal lesson, were raiding the fridge, a familiar ritual after rigorous training.

"Ugh, I'm starving," Jungkook groaned, peering into the bright interior.

"Me too. Anything good?" Taehyung asked, craning his neck.

Jimin rummaged through the shelves. "Just the usual. Banchan, some leftover kimchi stew… wait, what's this?" He pulled out a covered dish. Inside, nestled amongst parchment paper, were rich, fudgy brownies.

"Brownies!" Taehyung squealed, his eyes lighting up. "Since when did we have brownies?"

"Don't know, don't care," Jungkook said, already reaching for one. "These look amazing. Let's try them!"

Jimin hesitated for a fraction of a second. "Should we ask Jin-hyung first?"

Taehyung scoffed. "He's probably busy with Hobi-hyung and Namjoon-hyung. Besides, who would say no to brownies?" He snagged one and took a large bite. His eyes widened. "These are seriously good!"

Jungkook, already halfway through his brownie, nodded enthusiastically. "Hyung, you have to try this."

Jimin, succumbing to temptation, grabbed a brownie. The rich, chocolatey flavour was indeed delicious. "Wow, these are homemade, I think."

They devoured three brownies each, washing them down with cold milk. Content, they replaced the dish in the fridge, none the wiser about its contents, and headed to the dance studio for their afternoon practice.

The studio was a whirlwind of motion and music. J-Hope, ever the energetic dance leader, guided them through the choreography, his movements sharp and precise. At first, Jimin, Jungkook, and Taehyung kept up, fueled by the sugar rush from the brownies. But as the minutes ticked by, a strange sensation began to creep in.

Jimin felt a warmth spreading through his body, starting from his toes and rising to his face. His limbs felt heavy, yet strangely light at the same time. He stumbled, missing a step.

"Jimin-ah, you okay?" J-Hope asked, pausing the music.

"I… I don't know," Jimin mumbled, his face flushed. "I feel… weird."

Jungkook was experiencing similar effects. His heart was racing, and the music sounded distorted, like it was coming from underwater. He giggled for no particular reason.

Taehyung was the most affected. He felt a wave of euphoria wash over him, followed by a sudden surge of sadness. He blinked back tears, overwhelmed by a feeling he couldn't quite explain.

"Hyung," he whimpered, his voice trembling. "I don't feel good."

J-Hope raised an eyebrow, concern etching itself onto his face. "You guys look… flushed. Are you sick?"

Namjoon and Jin, who had been discussing the logistics of their upcoming comeback in a corner, noticed the commotion. They approached, their expressions questioning.

"What's going on?" Jin asked, his eyes scanning the three youngest members. "Why are you all red-faced?"

The three of them looked at each other, confusion swirling in their eyes. They didn't know how to explain what they were feeling.

Jimin, his voice slightly slurred, managed to say, "We… we ate some brownies from the fridge."

Jin frowned. "Brownies? What brownies? I didn't make any brownies."

Namjoon's brows furrowed. "We didn't buy any either."

Jungkook, trying to regain his composure, added, "They were in a covered dish, in the fridge. We just thought…"

He trailed off, realizing the implications. They hadn't asked. They had just assumed.

Taehyung, his voice thick with emotion, blurted out, "I feel like I want to cry!"

The three older members exchanged bewildered glances. Something was definitely not right.

"Okay, calm down," Namjoon said, his voice calm and reassuring. "Let's figure this out. Where did these brownies come from?"

He pulled out his phone and texted Suga.

Namjoon: Hyung, did you put brownies in the fridge?

A few minutes later, Suga replied.

Suga: Yeah, got them from Hyu. Why?

Namjoon: What's in them?

Suga's reply came almost instantly.

Suga: Just brownies... why? Hyu added something for fun... a blue pill or something.

Namjoon's eyes widened, and he felt a wave of panic wash over him. He stared at the screen, his mind racing.

Namjoon: Suga, those brownies... Jimin, Jungkook, and Taehyung ate them.

Silence. Then, a string of frantic messages.

Suga: WHAT?! They ate the whole thing? Oh god... I gotta go home.

Namjoon sighed, running a hand through his hair. This was a disaster. He looked at the three youngest members, their faces still flushed and their behavior increasingly erratic.

"Okay," he said to the group, his voice regaining its authority. "Jimin, Jungkook, Taehyung, go take a cold shower. Drink lots of water. Try to relax."

He turned to J-Hope and Jin. "We need to keep an eye on them. Something's in those brownies that's having an… interesting effect."

As the three youngest members stumbled towards the showers, a sense of impending chaos hung in the air. The brownie incident had officially begun.
