In the lobby of Haven Medical Center, a flustered Holly stood with two male cops.
"Ma'am, how long has your friend been gone?"
"What does that matter?"
"Answering our questions will make this pretty easy for us. So, please, tell us how how long she's been gone?"
"She's been gone for over an hour and I've rung her line more than a dozen times. If the scary man who called earlier hasn't harmed her, she has no reason not to answer her phone."
"I understand your worry, ma'am. Unfortunately, one has to go missing for twenty-four hours before they can be treated as a missing person."
"Excuse me, did you just say twenty-four hours? Who the hell sets these rules? I'm sure people who commits all sort of vile crimes all count on ridiculous rules like this to do heinous acts!
"Holly, get an ER ready." Was all Holly heard as someone strutted past her.
She recognized the voice and nodded perfunctorily, "Yes, Dr. Sutton."
