The car drove out of the mansion vicinity, I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of my responsibilities settling onto my shoulders.
Then my man behind the wheel asked, as his eyes met with mine in the rearview mirror.
"Are you scared she's going to betray you?"
I smirked at the question, my mind already racing with the possibilities. "I have never trusted her," I proclaimed.
"She's a prosecutor, and she accepted my request immediately. I know she has her reasons, but she's not that hard to crack."
Then he proceeded to ask another question, one that I had been dodging for a while now. "What if she eventually betrays you? Are you going to break your rules or let her go?"
I placed my head on the seat, closing my eyes as I tried to regain my composure.
The thought of Isabella betraying me was a possibility that I didn't want to consider. "I don't know," I admitted truthfully, my voice barely above a whisper.
