Chapter 13 - Cat's out of the Bag

"It's based on certain parameters where you will receive the Gamer Benefits. For COD, it is completing missions, what difficulty you choose, and what you set the Pain Modifier to be. Wizard101 is based on levels, upgrading spells, and PvP wins when it opens. As for how exactly it increases chakra reserves and such, it just does." Marashi explained to the Jonin.

Everyone was paying close attention and nodded along.

Kakashi didn't know what to think, but so far, he had only seen benefits, so he wouldn't continue to grill him nor ask again where he got these reality-bending devices. He had a far more pressing question.

"Is it random, or does it only improve chakra reserves and Nature Transformation proficiency?" Kakashi asked and the whole room stared at the shop owner.

"No, it's specific for each person. I can see who improves what if you're a Game Card holder. The benefits could also be different based on the game." Marashi informed as the room grew incredulous at the mystical force that he just introduced.

"I see. What are the differences?" Kakashi asked as the other adults were content with him asking the questions as their interest grew.

Team 7 and Hinata already knew of the incredible experience of diving into a game world, but the others weren't too sure what was going on. All they pieced together was that they could get stronger by playing games. It sounded crazy and unbelievable but none of the Jonin were calling him out on it, so they listened.

"Call of Duty increases chakra reserves and physicality, while Wizard101 increases your mastery of Nature Transformation depending on your affinity." He told the contrast between the benefits of his games.

Kakashi thought that made sense considering what he had felt.

"A question, Marashi-san. What about those who can't use ninjutsu or genjutsu?" Guy was quite subdued and even his honorifics changed as he looked at him in a new light. The others felt the same regardless of them being of higher rank than the owner.

"It really depends, are you speaking for yourself? I can check that." Marashi pretended not to know since there was no logical explanation to explain how he would have that kind of insight into his student.

"For myself and Lee." He smiled patting his student's back.

The others were quite stunned to learn that the boy couldn't use ninjutsu and still passed.

"How'd you even graduate from the academy?!" Naruto was in disbelief considering he failed 3 times from not being able to use the Clone Jutsu, but this guy couldn't use any of them.

Kakashi was the one to smack him on the head this time.

"Don't be rude, Naruto." He admonished with a sigh.

"Well, to answer your question, both you and Rock Lee would have decreased backlash from using the Eight Inner Gates." Marashi dropped that bomb on them.

"...Insane," Kurenai muttered in disbelief.

"Wait, so both of them use that technique. You taught him how to use the Eight Inner Gates?" Asuma looked at the spandex-wearing sensei like he was a psycho.

Kurenai and Kakashi picked up on it glaring at him with anger.

"Do you know how dangerous that is, Guy?! You really taught him that?!" Kakashi stared him down.

The other kids were confused.

"What's the Eight Inner Gates?" Sasuke asked his sensei.

Kakashi deflated with a sigh.

"Another time, Sasuke." He pushed it off and the other sensei gave similar answers.

"What is mine, Marashi-san?" Sasuke asked.

"Lightning and Fire." He looked through the statistics and was surprised that Fire was also listed. Maybe it had something to do with Indra's chakra? Probably.

The Uchiha was surprised by the information but he nodded. Kakashi was happily taking in that information since it meant they shared an affinity. He was a bit surprised since he had two affinities though. Since when did the Uchiha have Nature Transformation Kekkei Genkai? Probably not, but still strange. That doesn't happen unless you have one.

"Two affinities?! Sasuke-kun is so cool!" Ino gushed and that immediately started an argument with Sakura.

Naruto jumped in next.

"What about me?!" Naruto started vibrating in excitement.

Marashi smiled before checking his benefits and his expression froze.

"What the fuck?" It slipped right out of his mouth as he couldn't believe what he was witnessing.

Wind Release

Earth Release

Water Release

Wood Release

This should not be possible. Naruto never had Wood Release in the anime or manga. Sure, he has Ashura's chakra and both he and Hashirama had it. There was always a discussion about why Naruto didn't have it and it typically boiled down to him not being a Senju, but that didn't make a whole lot of sense considering the Senju and Uzumaki were related if distantly.

The main reason was likely because of narrative purposes. They wanted to show him that he was different from his predecessors and it showed by breaking the cycle of inherited violence.

Now, it seems to not be the case. He really has it. As if being the reincarnation of Ninja Jesus wasn't enough, having Kurama's overwhelming chakra and negative emotion sensing wasn't enough, being an Uzumaki with enhanced lifeforce wasn't enough…now he has Wood Release.

What now? Will he get Adamantite Sealing Chains next? Mind's Eye of the Kagura?

This dude is busted! If he even knew half of those abilities, they wouldn't need a rematch at the Valley of The End, he'd run Sasuke's pockets first try.

Kakashi started waving in front of his face as he was deeply concerned.

"...Marashi you with me?" He asked.

"Yeah, sorry just surprised." Marashi shook his head clearing his thoughts.

"What was his affinity?" Kakashi was staring right into his eyes practically demanding an answer.

The owner scanned the room and Naruto looked nervous with the others confused by his reaction.

He couldn't tell them, of course, he'd tell Team 7, but not in such a large group. Naruto's life would be much more difficult with assassination attempts if the word spread.

"We would need to speak privately about that," Marashi said and that certainly set them off.

Kakashi was filled with dread as that didn't sound good. It seems Naruto has some sort of Kekkei Genkai, but that shouldn't be possible considering his parents didn't have elemental bloodlines.

"C'mon, just say it. I bet that it's just embarrassing." Kiba antagonized.

Naruto blushed out of embarrassment.

"IF ANYTHING, YOU SHOULD BE EMBARASSED!" Naruto exploded.

Kakashi put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down while Kurenai admonished her student.

"Don't pester me or Naruto about it, otherwise not only will you be banned, but your whole clan as well." Marashi glared at the boastful fool.

Kiba clenched his teeth in frustration but didn't say anything.

The others grew even more curious but the warning made them back off. They liked the idea that playing games would make them stronger, so they didn't want to lose it.

Kakashi's jaw clenched in fear for his sensei's son hearing Marashi's insane proclamation.

Asuma and the Jonin sensei beside him grew weary as well, but considering it wasn't their student nor their business, they didn't push.

"What's mine? Hope it's nothing ominous. That would be a drag." Shikamaru tried lightening up the room which helped.

"Yin Release." Marashi did a quick check and thanked whatever god out there that there wasn't another insane affinity.

Shikamaru nodded as his clan dealt in shadow manipulation which was related to Yin Release.

"What's my affinity, Marashi-san?" Sakura looked at him with hope.

Hers was what he expected considering her talent in Medical Ninjutsu that she was unaware of.

"Yin Release. Perhaps Genjutsu or Medical Ninjutsu is in your future." He tried steering her early.

Sakura was giddy at the latter. The thought of healing Sasuke and tou…she went off on a mental tangent blushing.

Ino knows exactly what she is thinking about and grits her teeth.

'Troublesome.' Shikamaru sighed seeing them both.

"What's mine…Marashi-san?" Hinata asked slowly.

Neji wanted to scoff, of course, the failure would turn to ninjutsu when she was utterly hopeless in their clan's Gentle Fist.

"Lightning and Fire Release." That one shocked him considering there was practically zero reason to explain this. Bloodline purity? Wouldn't it be Yin Release then? Who fucking knows.

She looked happy and smiled.

Sasuke was intrigued that they shared the same affinities but his interest ended there.

"And mine, Marashi-san?" Neji wouldn't have cared since it didn't apply to him but now he had to.

Looking at his, he wanted to laugh.

"Earth Release."

Neji wanted to break something out of anger but ultimately calmed down. So what if she had the elemental advantage? As if she could learn it since she is a failure.

He eventually just started listing them off to everyone since it'd take too long.

"Well, that has been enlightening, Marashi. I think we'll get started with the training." Kakashi dryly stated.

They began to walk before Marashi stopped them.

"Hold on a sec. I have an announcement to make." Marashi stood up with a smile.

Stopping and giving them their attention, the owner spoke again.

"Multiplayer is now open for COD." He informed them.

Those that don't know what that was didn't have much of a reaction, but those that did were ecstatic. They asked him about the greyed-out option but was told that it was coming soon.

Now it was here.

"AWESOME! What is it? How's it different from missions?" Naruto gripped the desk in elation.

The Jonin senseis also got closer to listen.

"First, you can battle each other. There are also game modes that make things interesting and dynamic, especially for training purposes. You can also create your own class or weapon loadout. Similar to Wizard101, the more you level up, the more things you unlock." Marashi explained and they all looked excited even the new senseis who just started.

It also helped that there seem to be modes to aid their students in training.

"What kind of modes?" Asuma asks.

"There's Team Deathmatch which is exactly how it sounds, there are two teams and whichever team has the most kills by the end of the match or reaches the total kill count wins. You respawn after every death." Marashi informed.

"That seems a bit…" Sakura bit her lip just imagining the pain.

That sobered up the rest of them.

Marashi waved off their concern.

"Don't worry. The Pain Modifier is maxed at 50% for Multiplayer while receiving the same benefits." Marashi eased their fears which caused those who played to sigh in relief.

"What else?" Kurenai asked.

"There's a variant to Team Deathmatch called Multi-Team Deathmatch where a maximum of 4 teams of 4 players will fight against each other. It'll definitely keep you mindful of attacks everywhere." Marashi quite liked his addition to the game.

The others nodded in agreement as it would develop their spatial awareness of threats.

"The next would be Free-for-All which is basically every man and woman for themselves. From here, the rest of the modes are all objective-based. Capture the Flag, Headquarters, Domination, and Search and Destroy." Marashi listed off the rest.

They were amazed by the selection and different objectives to train their students. Capture the Flag was easy enough to understand along with S&D, but not so much with the other two.

"WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO IN THOSE MODES, MARASHI-SAN?!" Guy shouted with a smile.

"Capture the Flag is self-explanatory, you capture theirs while bringing it back to your own and defending. Domination is where there are 3 control points on the map that you must secure and protect to gain points for your team. If another team enters the area, it's now contested and you have to eliminate them. The team that secures the most points by holding the areas wins. Headquarters is similar but it's only one and it'll move to different parts of the arena after a certain amount of time.

"Finally, Search and Destroy is a round-based match. There are two bomb sites and in each round, the teams will take turns being attackers and defenders. The attackers must plant the bomb on one of the sites and wait for the defenders to try and diffuse it or eliminate them and win. The defenders naturally must protect the sites, kill the attackers, and defuse the bomb if planted. Sound good."

They were gobsmacked by the variety of training opportunities for the students and the Genin themselves were even getting excited to play.

"That sounds great, Marashi." Kakashi could hardly stop himself from grinning. "What was the create a class you were talking about? Anything more specific we should know?"

The other Jonins nodded along.

"Yes, as I said before. There is a leveling system where you can unlock things. That includes different guns, equipment, and perks." Marashi explained a bit further.

"Perks?" Kurenai asked.

"There is a perk system in Multiplayer that gives you an edge. There are three different trees of perks to choose from but only one from each. For example, you can get explosive weapons or traps, extra grenades, or even more ammo. Another for more health to soak up bullets, more explosive damage, and bullet damage. The last tree you can have more stamina to run longer, better bullet penetration through material, and even drop a grenade when you die for the chance of getting revenge beyond the grave." Marashi explained a bit more.

Their jaws were on the ground. That sounded crazy and excited them at the possible combinations and deeper layers of strategy and coordination.

"That's about it, so have fun!" Marashi smiled and waved.

Naruto was about to run off but pouted.

"I don't have money for it, Kakashi-sensei." He didn't know why he was brought here and felt even more gloomy at the thought of not playing Multiplayer.

"I got it." Kakashi waved him off. "24 hours for Naruto and Sakura." Kakashi looked at them both as they were stunned but still handed their cards over to Marashi.

"THANKS, KAKASHI-SENSEI!" He went to hug him as the older man tried prying him off.

Sakura bowed and thanked him as well.

Sasuke had an intense expression on his face after hearing everything.

He knew that this would be the edge he needed over Itachi.

"100 hours for me."
