Chapter 4 - The Wild Card

In the dark night, with lantern, Elandor stand on top of the clock tower with his lantern. Hew was on a night duty.

Suddenly, Elandor felt a strong presence from from Connecticut. He look the side of Connecticut, the surroundings was filled with a thick mist of black cloud.

" Something happened there"

Elandor was called by his teammate.

"Jack of Heart, we got new mission. Support the crew from Kortak port at Karoterk as they will sail to the silent sea, we must arrive before 7:00 am. I'll meet you there" The messenger left.

But, Elandor, who realized that Jolly would definitely go back to Connecticut to pass his trail, he didn't care. He knew Jolly would be in dangerous and need for help as he is just nothing.

Karoterk kingdom is far away from Arkana, Elandor thought going to Connecticut which was nearer on top of that, his friend was in need of help. He made his mind to abandon his mission.

He dash flying with a blue shine towards Connecticut

....

Elandor followed Jolly's trail into Connecticut. The town was quiet and dark, shrouded in eerie stillness. But with his glowing blue light, Elandor could see clearly through the shadows.

The wind howled, rattling the ruins of broken houses. It slammed against a damaged door, causing it to creak loudly.

As Elandor examined the footsteps before him, a sudden wave of overwhelming energy struck him—an aura of destruction and terrifying power.

His eyes widened. He flinched, startled.

"What… what a strong energy. I've never felt Wonder energy like this before."

Without warning, something slammed into him, sending him flying through the air.

CRASH!

He smashed into the next house. Blood spilled from his mouth as he coughed, struggling to get up. He used his sword as support to stand—and what he saw froze him in place.

"A… broken !"

The creature stood tall. It had a human head atop a snake-like neck, a humanoid torso, and writhing tentacles sprouting from its back. It was a twisted abomination.

Elandor gritted his teeth, tightened his grip on his sword, and surged with power. In a burst of motion, he dashed forward, spinning toward the Wonder.

The Wonder responded immediately. Its tentacles opened at the tips like mouths, each launching a black, glowing fireball at the incoming opponent.

Elandor, not strong enough yet to dodge cleanly, was struck. The blast hurled him through the air again. He crashed through another building, the explosion sending up a cloud of dust and debris.

The Wonder paused, believing Elandor had been defeated.

But then—from the swirling mist of smoke and flame—he emerged.

Bruised and bloodied, nose bleeding, his uniform torn, Elandor stood tall. A menacing aura radiated from him, bathed in brilliant blue light. Behind him, the symbol of The Water Bearer flickered into form.

His expression was blank, emotionless—but his power had grown stronger, fiercer.

"You should be grateful," the Wonder laughed, voice echoing through its warped head. "You haven't stepped into my domain."

Elandor didn't answer. With a roar, he dashed forward, faster than ever before.

He struck with full force, aiming for the Wonder's cardbox, but a tentacle blocked the blow. The two clashed, Elandor's blade versus the creature's twisting limbs.

They moved like blurs—too fast for the eye to follow. Each of Elandor's slashes was met by the Wonder's defense, its tentacles whipping and snapping through the air with terrifying speed.

The battlefield became chaos, black and blue energy swirling around them, tearing apart everything nearby.

Then—one of the tentacles pierced Elandor's thigh. He faltered, caught off guard. The Wonder seized the moment.

Its tentacles lashed out, grabbing his limbs and spreading him open midair.

"Did you really think you could win against me?"

Its laughter was monstrous.

The Wonder's snake-like head slithered closer, jaw opening wide, revealing a long, forked tongue and a gaping maw filled with razor teeth.

It lunged forward, ready to devour Elandor whole

But Elandor slowly moved his fingers.

His sword, glowing with blue light, responded to his will—flying through the air toward him. The moment he gripped it, he slashed through the tentacles and severed the Wonder's long tongue in a single, blinding flash.

The Wonder howled in agony.

Enraged, it let out a monstrous growl, so loud it shook the air. A thick, swirling shadow engulfed its body, its eyes turning blood-red. The energy it emitted grew darker—more powerful, more menacing, more deathly.

Elandor knew then—he didn't stand a chance.

The Wonder had unleashed its full potential.

Barely able to breathe, Elandor stood trembling. His body was beaten, broken. His sword slipped from his hand and clattered to the ground.

His expression… was one of surrender.

"I can't killed a broken ranked Wonder"

"Jack of Heart, you will be punished for abandoning your mission."

A voice echoed through the chaos.

Elandor looked up—and saw a tall man with flowing white hair. He held a sword far more elegant and powerful than Elandor's, standing before him like a protective shield.

"King of Spade…Monarch....huhhh cecilion Lewellyn?"

The man didn't answer. His eyes were locked on the enraged Wonder.

Then, without a word, he unleashed his power.

It was overwhelming—so intense that Elandor felt himself shrink beneath its weight.

"What is this…?" he whispered, trembling as Cecilion Lewellyn's energy flooded the battlefield.

The Wonder, using its full power, changed the area around them. It set a trap right in front of Cecilion Lewellyn's feet.

Celion Lewellyn noticed everything. He saw the red lines—lines that couldn't be seen with normal eyes, but someone strong like him could feel them. He stepped into them on purpose.

Then, suddenly, both Cecilion Llewellyn and the Wonder disappeared.

Only the broken buildings, flying dust, and Elandor were left behind.

...

Inside the large circus tent, Jolly sat on a small chair across a narrow table. A Wonder stood in front of him, calmly shuffling a deck of cards.

Above them, a jester mask floated in slow circles. Its lips moved like a real face, stretching into a smile as it laughed with a strange, echoing voice.

After a few shuffles, the Wonder looked up.

"Before I kill you, why don't we have some fun? If you win, I'll break my domain."

"Just breaking the domain?" Jolly muttered.

The Wonder grinned.

"No wild card from the deck. Use of Discard Pile Allowed. No Peeking. No Backing Out. No Replacement Cards. First Draw Must Be from the Deck. Reveal All Cards at Gin.Only One Gin Allowed"

"Agree?"

"Agree," Jolly said with a nod.

The Wonder's grin widened, like he was hiding something.

The cards were dealt. Jolly picked up his hand and checked what he got—

2, 3, 4 of Heart.

Queen of Clover, Queen of Diamond, Queen of Spade.

6 of Spade, 7 of Spade, 9 of Clover, King of Diamond.

He smiled a little. He already had one clean run and a full set. All he needed was the 8 of Spade to complete a second run. If he got that, he could go Gin — no deadwood.

Across the table, the Wonder sat still. His expression was unreadable. He gestured politely.

"You draw first."

Jolly nodded. He reached for the deck and pulled his first card.

5 of Clover.

He didn't react. It was nothing. He stayed calm and tossed it into the discard pile.

The Wonder picked it up right away. He didn't even look surprised. He smoothly discarded 3 of Diamond in return.

Jolly glanced at his hand again. He reached for the deck, hoping for something useful.

10 of Spade.

Still no help.

He sighed and flicked 9 of Clover into the pile.

The Wonder drew again. This time, 9 of Heart. He looked at it, then tossed it right back. He didn't even pause. Jolly noticed. That wasn't a real draw. The Wonder was just cycling — playing slow, biding time.

"Is he just trying to buy turns?" Jolly thought, narrowing his eyes.

Jolly reached out again. His fingers hovered over the deck. His heart was beating faster now. He hesitated for half a second.

Then, he pulled.

8 of Spade.

His eyes widened. That was it.

He exhaled quietly. "Yes…"

He slipped it into place with the 6 and 7 of Spade. Now he had everything. No deadwood.

He looked down at the last useless card — King of Diamond — and discarded it with a relaxed smile.

He was ready to go Gin.

But before he could say anything, the Wonder slammed his hand onto the table.

"I win."

He threw his cards out for display—

5, 6, 7 of Spade.

8 of Clover, 8 of Diamond, 8 of Spade.

10 of Heart, 10 of Heart, Jack of Heart.

3 of Diamond.

Jolly froze. His eyes locked on the two 10 of Hearts.

"…Two tens?" he said quietly. "That's not possible."

The Wonder grinned. He dublicated the 10 of heart card.

Jolly didn't speak.

The Wonder leaned forward. "Your turn, but it won't change anything."

But Jolly didn't look worried. He reached into his coat pocket. Slowly, calmly, he pulled out a card.

The Wild Card. The one he picked up from the alley.

He placed it on top of the discard pile. His final move.

Then, he laid out his hand.

2, 3, 4 of Heart.

Queen of Clover, Queen of Diamond, Queen of Spade.

6, 7, 8 of Spade.

Every card in a set or run. No deadwood.

He discard The wild card as his last move.

"Gin," he said.

The Wonder looked furious.

"You cheated."

"cheated? you say.."

Jolly stood up calmly.

"Didn't you make the rules? No Wild Card from the deck. My Joker wasn't from the deck."

He stared straight at the Wonder.

"You lost, Black Bunny... with three deadwood cards. Even after cheating."

Suddenly, the room started flashing. The lights flickered on and off. The Wonder's face twisted in rage. The floating jester mask above screamed, "Kill! Kill! Kill!"

The whole place began to shake. Black smoke poured out from under the table. The cards they were playing with flew into the air, swirling violently around the Wonder.

Jolly flinched, stepping back quickly. He drew his pistol and pointed it at the Wonder. His hand trembled slightly, but he kept his aim steady. The Wonder growled.

Then, in the middle of the chaos, a voice echoed in Jolly's mind. Deep and calm.
