Eleanor slammed the door shut behind her as she stepped into the hotel room, her breathing uneven.
The tension in her shoulders was unbearable, her hands slightly trembling as she paced back and forth. Her heart pounded in her chest, the encounter with Linda still fresh in her mind.
"This can't be happening. She knows something…" She ran a hand through her hair, mumbling under her breath. "I saw it in her eyes."
Eleanor walked to the minibar and poured herself a glass of whiskey, her fingers barely steady enough to hold the bottle.
She took a long sip, but the burning liquid did little to calm her nerves as Linda's words echoed in her mind.
"If it's because of your secret that you kept Alexander hidden, then you should be ready to face me."
Eleanor clenched the glass in her hand. "Damn it," she hissed. "How much does she really know?"
