Charlotte stretched her arms above her head, letting out a soft sigh of relief as she placed the final document of the day into its designated folder.
It was only her first day, but she had managed to complete all her tasks efficiently.
Just as she leaned back to relax for a moment, a gentle knock on her desk startled her. She looked up to see Janine standing there, a hesitant smile on her face.
"Charlotte, Ms. Veronica asked to see you in her office."
"Ma Veronica?" Charlotte asked as her brows furrowed in confusion. She exchanged a glance with Janine, who simply shrugged.
"I don't know why, but she seemed serious," Janine added.
A knot formed in Charlotte's stomach. She had heard whispers about Veronica since she stepped into the company that morning... how she was difficult, especially towards new employees.
With a composed expression, Charlotte nodded, pushing her chair back as she stood up.
"Alright, thanks."
