The plane landed in Lumiose City.

As the central and largest city in the Kalos Region, Lumiose City serves as a hub of technology and art, almost equivalent to the region's capital. The city boasts scientific research facilities and art exhibition halls throughout its bustling streets. Numerous Coffee shops cater to the busy white-collar crowd.

Chris disembarked at Lumiose City's airport, situated on the north side of the city. From there, Lumiose Station was a short distance away. His first stop was the Pokémon Center for some treatment—essentially setting his "return point" here.

Chris opened his map to check the Fly options and selected Mossdeep City in the Hoenn Region.

[Would Flygon like to use Fly to Hoenn Region - Mossdeep City? Estimated travel time: 234 hours, 21 minutes, and 17 seconds.]

"Nearly 10 days? Why so long?" Chris muttered, baffled. After all, the plane journey here only took a day.

He reasoned that planes can refuel and keep going, while a living creature like Flygon needs rest along the way. Accepting this limitation, Chris decided it would be more practical to Fly directly within the Kalos Region since intra-regional travel was nearly instantaneous.

Leaving the Pokémon Center, Chris headed west toward Route 13, also known as Lumiose Badlands. The area was barren and rugged, with uneven terrain stretching out to the horizon. Route 13 led to two notable locations: the Kalos Power Plant and Coumarine City.

Since the power plant was under Team Flare's control and Chris didn't have the key, he couldn't enter. Instead, he set off toward Coumarine City, planning to reach Shalour City via Route 12. His primary objective in Kalos was obtaining the Mega Ring, a key item for Mega Evolution.

Chris recalled that the protagonist in the Pokémon X and Y storyline obtained the Mega Ring from Gym Leader Korrina in Shalour City. Though he wasn't part of the same plotline, he hoped Korrina might provide him with the Mega Ring—or at least some clues about it. For now, he decided to skip the Lumiose City Gym.

Traversing Route 13, Chris suddenly encountered a Pokémon: a Gible at Level 26! The small dragon Pokémon leapt out from behind a slope, surprising him. With a swift motion, Chris called out Smeargle, used False Swipe to weaken Gible, followed by Sleep Powder. A Poké Ball secured the catch.

However, upon checking Gible's stats, Chris found them underwhelming. With no individual values of note, he decided to send Gible to Professor Birch.

"I can't believe I caught a Gible here! I wonder if it's as tough to catch as Bagon," Chris pondered. Curious, he spent the next half-hour gathering data.

He discovered that Gible, a pseudo-legendary Pokémon typically difficult to find, was surprisingly common in Route 13's Lumiose Badlands. The encounter rate was around 20%, with a high chance of running into Dugtrio or Trapinch as well. Moreover, using Sweet Scent could draw out Gible in hordes, making shiny hunting and stat optimization easier.

"Trainers in the Kalos Region are so lucky! If only I had picked the X/Y version instead of Emerald—then I wouldn't need to search the Dragon's Den for a Gible," Chris mused. Still, he noted that Shiny Garchomp didn't differ much in color from its regular counterpart.

He jotted down Route 13's data and Gible's spawn details in his notebook, determined to make the most of his time in Kalos.

The probability of encountering a Gible at 20% was already quite high, making Route 13 a notable spawn point. Chris realized that if he opened a breeding hut here, he could sell Gible to trainers across the regions.

For a pseudo-legendary Pokémon like Gible, Chris imagined adopting a boutique approach, selling a small number of high-IV Gible and building a premium brand.

"Bagon and Axew are still a bit tricky to find, especially since I haven't climbed the waterfall yet," Chris mused. "Catching them involves group battles, which can be tedious."

He chuckled to himself, thinking, I must have a knack for business—already thinking about branding without even opening a store!

Meeting Gible's spawn point was certainly a pleasant surprise.

Chris continued through Route 13 and arrived in Coumarine City, home to the Grass-type Gym. The Gym Leader was an elderly man known as " Ramos,".

"Well, good luck to Uncle Ramos in his golden years," Chris remarked with a chuckle.

Chris planned to use Blaziken to clear the Coumarine Gym once he acquired the Mega Ring. Reflecting on the city and Gym's name, he gave a light cough and moved on.

After a quick visit to the Pokémon Center for treatment, Chris left Coumarine City and ventured westward onto Route 12.

Route 12 offered little excitement. The Pokémon here, such as Heracross, Pinsir, and Miltank, were common and could also be found in the Hoenn Region. Without lingering, Chris pressed forward to Shalour City.

Upon arriving, he registered and treated his Pokémon at the local Pokémon Center before heading straight to the Gym. However, upon reaching the entrance, he learned that Korrina was away, having gone to the Tower of Mastery. He had the option to wait for her return or visit the tower to meet her.

Without hesitation, Chris turned around and headed for the Tower of Mastery.

The tower was the most iconic structure in Shalour City, harboring secrets related to Mega Evolution. From a distance, the tower resembled a castle, perched dramatically on the seashore.

As Chris stepped inside, a prompt appeared in front of him:

[Would you like to challenge the special instance "Tower of Mastery"?]

[Recommended Level: 70]

[Special Rules: Certain Pokémon cannot be used. Only one Pokémon is allowed (Note: Choose your Pokémon wisely).]

Chris paused, considering his options carefully.
