CHARLOTTE
Archie, Juliette, and I left the police station after what seemed like ages. The worry that was lodged deep in the crevice of body was still there, but as the police cars drove past us in a blur to start the search, some of the tension in my body eased.
My husband continued to drive towards the hospital, and my brows furrowed into a frown.
"Has Kieran called you?" I asked Archie. He shook his head to indicate no, his attention not straying from the road.
I turned to Juliette, who was sitting at the back. She shook her head before I even asked.
"Nothing. I must have sent a million texts to him asking if she's awake yet. There's not a single response. He didn't even read my texts."
I sighed as I turned back to the front. I understood if my brother wasn't talking to anyone at the moment. After everything that had happened, and was happening, I understood the need to just shut everyone out and just retreat back into a shell.
