HARRIET
The sound of my phone ringing pierced through my sleep, and my eyes fluttered open.
Groggily, I reached for my bed stand, blindly searching for the ringing atrocity that was threatening to make my ears bleed.
The sun hadn't pierced through the curtains in my room yet, so I knew it was still pretty early. Whoever was calling had to have a very important reason, or else I would have to transfer my aggression from being woken up so early on them.
The caller ID read that the transgressor was my mother. I sat up immediately, the sleep fleeing from my entire body.
Mother never called this early unless it was an emergency, and it wasn't even seven am yet.
I picked the call, trying to still my already pounding heart.
"Hi. Mum. Is everything okay?" I asked immediately I heard the connection snap in between us.
"Hello, my darling," she greeted with a cheer. As soon as I heard her voice though, I knew nothing was wrong.
