A few days had passed.
The Red Keep and the entirety of King's Landing were bustling with activity as they prepared for their prince's second name day.
Nobles, lords of various houses, rushed towards the capital; behind them, a line of gifts for their prince, hopefully their next king!
"My sweetling is so handsome!" Alicent exclaimed with a bright smile, glancing at her son and adjusting his dress.
Aegon was wearing red-coloured clothes with black accents, his silver-white hair neatly combed and his chubby cheeks slightly touched upon by makeup.
"Your Grace, it is time," a maid approached, informing Alicent with a bow.
Alicent nodded her head; she was wearing a copper-brown dress with an emerald-green necklace, matching her eyes.
"Let's go, Aegon!" she exclaimed as she turned around, while Aegon was picked up by a maid and followed the queen.
'Hmmm, she looks happy,' Aegon commented inwardly, watching his mother walk with a smile.
The bump of her stomach bulged slightly; it would not be long before she gave birth to Helaena.
'Well, I hope everything goes well,' he mumbled inwardly, while the group walked across a few halls before they reached the ballroom.
It was heavily decorated, with Targaryen banners adorning the walls and a large table on the floor. It was filled with meat and delicacies that even some lords couldn't afford.
"Hahaha!" And behind the table was the king laughing heartily, dressed in black robes and a crown on his head; he looked like a kind man who wouldn't hurt a soul.
'Heh! Nothing more than a coward who couldn't control his own family, much less the realm!' Aegon mumbled inwardly, glancing at his father with narrowed eyes.
But contrary to his mood, Viserys's face lit up when he saw Aegon, "There he is!" he exclaimed, striding toward him.
The crowd followed him, facing the mother-son pair with curious eyes, causing Alicent's expression to falter a little, but she masked it immediately, putting on a bright smile.
"Hahaha!" Viserys smiled as he took Aegon from the maid; a little crowd gathered around him. "He has got your eyes, your Grace!" one of the lords exclaimed, trying to curry favour.
Aegon almost rolled his eyes, 'of course I would, you old fart! I'm a Targaryen!!'
"Hahaha!" But Viserys only laughed at the man's words; he nodded his head in agreement, "Yes, he does! He has got my nose too!" He added.
And as the lords praised the prince and the ladies fawned over him, an old man leaned against a pillar at the back, watching the king and the prince.
His grey hair slicked back while a smile danced on his lips, watching the king, and just then, "The king looks happy!" said one of the lords standing beside him.
"Of course he is; Prince Aegon is his firstborn," Otto replied.
"I shall hope that by the end of this hunt, like his Grace, the rest of the lords too are happy." Another said.
"And why aren't my lords happy now?" Otto asked as he turned towards the man.
"Prince Aegon is His Grace's firstborn son; we hope to see His Grace announcing that Prince Aegon will be his new heir." The man continued.
"I believe that His Grace doesn't see it that way; he wants the princess to be his successor."
"Then perhaps it is your job as the Hand to make His Grace see reason." With that, the man left along with the other lords.
Otto stayed silent, watching Viserys showcase Aegon. The Hand is making some plans!
Plans to make his grandson the king!
…..
'Ugh, when will this ever end?!' Aegon grumbled inwardly with annoyance while keeping a stoic expression on his face.
It was fun at first, watching the lords trying to woo Viserys with words, but soon it got boring and, before long, it became annoying.
But just then, a man with blonde hair walked towards Viserys with a worried expression on his face. He greeted him and Alicent before saying,
"I bring urgent news, Your Grace. The crab feeder has dug into Bloodstone while his men sabotage our ships in the dark of the night."
Viserys smiled at the man, but his gaze glinted with annoyance, which didn't escape the man, "It can wait, Tyland. It's my son's second name day; it can wait for another day."
He then handed over Aegon to the maid before grabbing a plate. "Come feast before we leave for the hunt!" he said, placing a slab of meat on his plate.
And turning to his side, he asked, "Where's Rhaenyra?"
"I do not know, Your Grace!" a man replied, walking behind Viserys.
But just then, Alicent walked behind him, "I know where she is; I will bring her here."
Viserys thought about it for a moment before he nodded his head and went back to stuff his plate with meat.
Alicent, receiving his permission, was about to walk out and look for her friend when she heard her son cry, "Mama!"
Aegon furiously flailed his body in the maid's arms as he looked at his mother; he knew this was his chance to get out of here, his purple eyes moistened, staring at her, 'please get me out of here!'
"Awww!" The ladies in the room melted at his looks; 'The prince is so cute!' many of them thought.
The maid carrying Aegon almost sighed out loud. She knew the prince wouldn't change his mind no matter what she did. She walked towards Alicent and handed him over.
The prince latched onto her neck as if his life depended on it, "Mama," he said with a pleading look, causing a few to chuckle in the room.
Alicent turned toward Viserys, who had an amused smile on his face; he then nodded his head once again, allowing Aegon to knave with her.
Alicent smiled in return; she bowed slightly to the people present before walking out of the room with Aegon.
'At last….freedom!' Aegon exclaimed inwardly, clenching his tiny fists, while his face brightened as Alicent walked through the halls, reaching the Godswood in a few moments.
Rhaenyra was sitting under a weirwood tree, reading a book while a dwarf played some songs, sitting beside her.
The dwarf stopped playing when he noticed Alicent walk in, signalling him to leave.
Nodding his head, the dwarf stood up, "Your Grace!" he exclaimed with a bow before he started to leave.
"You know, I was enjoying it." A voice came from behind the tree.
Alicent smiled at this; her friend was always quirky. "The King has been looking for you, Rhaenyra…."
