Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The hunter eye

Despite the changes he felt within, Ackah couldn't ignore the world around him. The city, with its towering skyscrapers and bustling streets, was a constant reminder of the power he lacked, the power that separated the awakened Hunters from the unawakened masses.

He began to observe the Hunters more closely, watching their movements, studying their techniques. He would spend hours in the city's training grounds, observing the sparring matches, the weapon demonstrations, the aetherium-infused displays of power.

He noticed the subtle differences between the Hunters and the ordinary people. Their movements were more fluid, their reflexes quicker, their senses sharper. They carried themselves with a confidence that came from knowing they possessed power, a power that could bend the world to their will.

One day, while observing a sparring match between two young Hunters, he felt a prickling sensation on the back of his neck, a feeling of being watched. He turned, his eyes scanning the crowd, searching for the source of the gaze.

He saw him then, a tall, imposing figure standing at the edge of the training grounds. He was clad in dark leather armor, his face partially obscured by a hooded cloak. His eyes, however, were visible, piercing blue orbs that seemed to bore into Ackah's soul.

Ackah felt a shiver run down his spine. He couldn't explain it, but he knew this man was different. He wasn't just a Hunter; he was something more. He exuded an aura of power, a sense of danger that made Ackah's instincts scream.

The man approached, his footsteps silent and measured. He stopped in front of Ackah, his eyes fixed on him with an unsettling intensity.

"You're Ackah Emile," the man said, his voice deep and resonant.

Ackah nodded, his hand instinctively reaching for the sword at his hip. "Who are you?"

The man chuckled, a low, throaty sound. "A friend. Or an enemy. Depends on you."

He lowered his hood, revealing a face that was both striking and intimidating. He had sharp features, high cheekbones, and those piercing blue eyes that seemed to assess Ackah's every move.

"I've been watching you," he continued. "You have a talent, a raw potential that is rare, even among the awakened."

Ackah frowned. "What do you want?"

"To offer you a chance," the man said, his voice laced with a hint of intrigue. "A chance to hone your skills, to learn how to control your power, to become something more than just an unawakened with a hidden talent."

Ackah hesitated. He didn't trust this man, but his words resonated with a yearning he couldn't deny. He wanted to learn, to master the power that was stirring within him, to protect his family, not just provide for them.

"Who are you?" he asked again, his voice firmer this time.

"They call me Kael," the man said. "And I'm a Hunter. But not like the others."

He paused, letting his words sink in. "I walk a different path, a path that doesn't follow the rules of the Hunter's Association. I'm a rogue element, a shadow in the system."

Ackah's eyes widened. A rogue Hunter. He had heard whispers of such individuals, those who operated outside the confines of the Association, defying its authority, living by their own code.

"Why me?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.

Kael smiled, a predatory glint in his eyes. "Because you have something special, Ackah Emile. Something that could make you a valuable ally. Or a dangerous enemy."

He stepped closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "The choice is yours."
