Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The echo warning

Ackah stood frozen, his mind a whirlwind of questions. The rogue Hunter, Kael, observed him with an intensity that made Ackah's instincts scream. There was no offer of mentorship, no invitation to join a clandestine organization. Instead, there was a warning, a silent acknowledgment of the dangerous path Ackah was already walking.

"You have a fire within you, boy," Kael said, his voice low and resonant, echoing through the training grounds. "A dangerous fire."

Ackah's hand instinctively moved to his chest, where he felt the familiar hum of energy, the raw potential that was stirring within him. He knew Kael was right. He had felt it in the Labyrinth, the surge of strength, the heightened senses, the feeling of being unbound.

"I've seen what unchecked power can do," Kael continued, his piercing blue eyes fixed on Ackah's. "It consumes, it destroys."

He paused, letting his words sink in. "You walk a path that few understand, Ackah Emile. A path that leads to places you may not want to go."

Ackah frowned, his eyes searching Kael's face for answers. "What do you mean?"

Kael chuckled, a dry, humorless sound. "You're unawakened, yet you possess a power that rivals some of the strongest Hunters. That's a dangerous anomaly, boy. It draws attention. Unwanted attention."

He gestured towards the city, its towering skyscrapers gleaming in the afternoon sun. "This city, this world, it's built on a delicate balance. A balance of power, of control. Your presence disrupts that balance."

"I don't want to disrupt anything," Ackah said, his voice firm. "I just want to protect my family."

"Protect them from what?" Kael asked, his voice laced with a hint of irony. "The monsters that lurk in the shadows? The corrupt officials who prey on the weak? Or from yourself?"

Ackah's eyes widened. He understood the implication. Kael wasn't just warning him about external threats; he was warning him about the potential within himself, the power that could consume him.

"Be careful, Ackah Emile," Kael said, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "The path you walk is a lonely one. It leads to places where the lines between good and evil blur, where power corrupts, where you can lose yourself in the darkness."

He turned and began to walk away, his figure melting into the shadows of the training grounds. "Remember my words, boy. The fire within you can be a beacon or a wildfire. The choice is yours."

Ackah watched him go, his mind reeling. Kael's words echoed in his ears, a chilling reminder of the dangers that lay ahead. He looked at the city, its towering structures a symbol of the power he was beginning to possess.

He understood now. He wasn't just an unawakened boy with a hidden talent. He was a force of nature, a walking calamity, and he had to learn to control that power, or risk being consumed by it.

He turned and walked away from the training grounds, his footsteps heavy with the weight of responsibility. He had no mentor, no organization to guide him. He was alone, on a solitary path, a path that would test his strength, his resolve, and his very soul.
